Condition on August 25 Was 67 Per Cent Compared fo Average of 65.3. By International News Swrl?. The crop reporting board of the Bureau of Agricultural Economics. Department of Agriculture, today estimated the condition of the cotton crop on August 26 at 67 per cent of normal, as compared with ,70.8 on July 25, 1922; 4a.3 on August 26, 1921, and a ten-year average for August 25 of 66.3. A condition of 57 on August 25 forecasts a yield per acre of about 146.2 pounds and a total production Of about 10,575,000 bales of 500 pounds gross. The final outturn, the bureau stated, may be larger or smaller than this amount according as conditions developing during the remainder of the season prove more or less, favorable to the crop than average. Exports of crude oil In July were ?4 per cent above those for July of last year. Shipments of gasoline, naphthas and other light products In July were 102 per cent above those of July. 1921. Exports of illuminating oil showed a 39 per cent Increase as compared to July of the previous year. Foreign shipments of gas and fuel OH declined 4b.2 per cent under those for July of last year. Shipments of lubricating oils were 50 per cent greater than for July a year ago. MUCH COTTON ACREAGE ABANDONED IN MONTH In response to a Senate resolu tion the Secretary of Agriculture today made public an estimate of the acreage of cotton abandoned ?ince June 25 up to August 25, 1922. and the acreage remaining In cultivation on the last named date.' The acreage abandoned for the period mentioned is estimated at 867,000 acres or 1.1 per cent. The cotton cultivation 'on June 25 was estimated at 34,852,000 acres while the cotton acreage remaining In cultivation on August 25 was esti mated at 34,486,000 acres.
