CLEVELAND, Oct. 10.?Joe Jack
son, fifteen years old, Brooklyn, N.
T., has carved his name in the hobo
hall of fame. He stole a ride on the
Twentieth Century Limited from Al
bany, N. Y., to Cleveland.
Joe was found here huddled on
the tender over the water tank. He
was on his way to Chicago, he said.
He was turned over to juvenile
officers, who notified his mother.

said.

Forty-seven Makes of Closed
Type to Be Shown in Con
vention Hall.
Two hundred closed car models,
representing forty-seven makes, will
be shown at the aecond annual
closed car show to be opened here
under the auspices of the Washing
ton Automotive Trade Association.
The show will open tomorrow even
ing at the Convention Hall and
continue one week.
A complete Une of accessories
will be a feature of ths show.
Automobile dealers estimate that
the aggregate value of the cars on
display will be about $500,000.
The hall has been elaborately
decorated for the show sind a num
ber of novel designs have been ef
fected for the several booths en
gaged by exhibitors.
Within the past year or two the
closed rar has gained In popularity
until the manufacturer Is now de
voting almost as much tlms and
expense In developing that model
as he formerly devoted to ths or
dinary type of open car.
Originally the cloaed car was so
expensive that it was beyond the
purse of the sverage motorist. The
aim of the msker has been to de
velop a closed that assured the
same durability of the open car
and at the same time could be of
fered at a prloe within reach of
the average customer.
FOREIGN BORN WHITES
CENTER FURTHER WEST
The center of foreign born whits
population Is moving westward for
the first time In thirty years and
is now located In Indiana, the De
partment of Commerce announced
today. ?
The asset center is at the inter
section of latitude 41-8-48 and longi
tude 84-49-17, Which Is sixteen
miles dus west of Fort Wayne.
The total Increase In foreign born
population Is given as 887,209 and
the Increase In Tessa, California and
Arisona is 818,222, or 88 per cent
of the total.
