for Ralph DePalma, noted auto race
driver, to secure a stay of execution
In his ten-day Jail sentence In this
county for speeding until after
December 1 In order to permit the
automobile speed king to fulfill tils
contracts for racing exhibitions.
DePalma was to have appeared
today at the county jail to start
serving his ten day sentence Im
posed by Justice R. G, Cornell, of
Chowchllla, on testimony that De
Palma was going over seventy miles
an hour on the Stai? highway.
He had put up $1,000* bond, and If
his move for a stay falls he must
forfeit this amount or put In an ap
pearance at once.
