NEW YORK, April ’ 10.—The trend of prices was downward in the first two hours’ trading on. the , stock exchange today. In the ab sence of outside interest bearish speculators again had their way, aided by further indications of re ceding trade activity, like another falling off in car loadings in the week ended March 29, and a de crease of employment in automobile centers. The Dawes report having failed to stir up any constructive initia tive industrial tide running in favor of the bears, it was a comparatively easy task to thicken the gloom already prevailing in market circles ahd to bring about substantial declines in various is sues. Concentrated pressure was applied against the more popular leaders with the obvious purpose of creating widespread unsettlement, ihe experiment, however, was only partially successful. Studebaker, American Woolen, Baldwin and American Can were forced to new low levels for the year, while stocks like .American Sugar, Du pont, General Electric and Wool w^££ h severe losses, The .main body of shares refused to be seriously affected by the ln the leaders - Stubborn resistance was encountered in var- . April 10.—Domestic crude oil production during the week ended April 5. was at an average of 1,915,000 barrels a day, an increase of 2,600 barrels daily over the preceding week, according to the American Petroleum Insti tute today. The feature of the production figures was an increase of 14,950 barrels a day in Oklahoma which was offset by reductions elsewhere. Imports of oil declined 63.000 bar rels a day to 272,571. D. C. NEW YORK, April 10.—Revenue freight loadings on American rail roads during the week ended March 29, totalled 907,548 cars, a decrease of 1,103 from the previous week and 28,726 from the corresponding period last year, according to the American Railway Association to day.
