8 MSTFUIS HF Zt P'S TRIP THRILUNG * Exclusive pictures of the flight of th* Graf Zeppelin are being shown this week at the Columbia and Pal ace theaters. The pictures were made by Robert Hartman, M-G-M News and Interna tional Newsreel cameraman, who was the only photographer allowed passage on the giant “Zep.” Particularly interesting to Wash ingtonians are the “shots” taken while the Graf Zeppelin was flying ever the city. Close-ups of four members of the ship's crew repair ing the wind-damaged port stabilizer fin w’hile 1.500 feet above the At lantic, furnish all the thrills of a film. There are shots of the take-off from Frederichshafen, from above Heidelberg; the crossing of Gibral tar, sighting the Virginia coast, and es cities along the seaboard. TTa.rt.mann is Berlin cameraman for the Hearst picture and newsreel services. Special arrangements were made in Advance to rush the unde veloped films and “plates*’ from the Graf Zeppelin, when it landed, to the New York laboratories. A customs guard was aboard the eraft as soon as it was close enough. He handed the films over to a repre tentative of the Hearst pictures serv ice, who, in turn, rushed them to the Airport adjoining the Lakehurst field- The films Were flown to Newark, from which point they were taken by motorcycle, under police escort, to the Manhattan laboratories. In the meantime, airplanes were Hying to New York with pictures taken in cities over which the "Zep” had flown. By the time Hartmann’s films were developed, the other pic tures had arrived and the Hearst pic tures service had exclusive newsreel releases of the start-finish and high lights of the epochal flight. Commerce Chamber for • Hospital for Cripples The Washington Chamber of Com merce indorsed the plan to build a, hospital school for crippled children of the District at its first fall meet ing at the Willard Hotel Jast night.
