The warehouse was dark and for bidding. Outside could be heard the fog-horns of river boats, and the street lights were struggling through the veil of mist,which had settled over the neighborhood. In the rear, |n a small room cluttered with topis and harness, _ was a small group of newspaper re porters and detectives. The scene was illuminated by k lantern, sitting on the floor. “Goda evening, Coroner,” said Captain Fitzpatrick, edging inside the circle. A small, rotund man with a big cigar in his mouth and a derby hat pushed back on his head, Idoked up.
