18 16th Street Apartment... 2 Rooms, Kitchen, Dinette, Bath, Porch... Priced at $57.50 JL ' SEE TODAY'S RENTAL LISTINGS INSANE MALICE HELD BEHIND BABY DEATH NEW ORLEANS, May 14 (IN.S.).—Many members of the medical profession have long held the belief the Lindbergh baby was kidnaped by a i aniac in a spirit of “insane malice,” Dr. Morris Fishbein, editor of the journal of the American Medical Association, ■aid today. Dr. Fishbein said the kidnaping had certain “typical” factors which definitely pointed to a criminally insane person as the perpetrator of the crime. He made these remarks when Shown a copy of the original ran som note and a copy of a private report made to International News Service by a well-known New York psychiatrist who was shown the note weeks ago. The scientist at that time said: That the kidnaping was not * gang job, but was done by a man of possible German descent who, probably, has been paroled recently from an institution for the insane. Insane Malice That insane malice and not money was the motive for the crime. That the baby was probably killed within the first few hours. That the kidnaper was a de mentia praecox victim of the catatonic’type—that is, he had cycles of physical and mental activity and sluggishness. That this disease was mani fested clearly in the lack of threats in the note, indicating that the kidnaper had the typical dementia praecox sense of omniscience, a feeling that he Euld not fail in the attempt to cceed with any scheme at tempted. Sure of Diagnosis Dr. Fishbein said that this diagnosis of insanity from the note was “perfectly sound, ’’ and probably would have been made by many other psychiatrists and alienists in the medical profes sion if they had seen the note. He added: “It seems astounding that this note was not taken by police or some other investi gating authority to several c ninent alienists for a con sensus of opinion on the san ity of the writer. Such a pro ceeding would have spared the family many terrible disap pointments.” Dr. Fishbein agreed that defi nite evidence of the insanity of the kidnaper was manifested in ■everal ways by the phrasing of the note, and especially by the absence of direct threats deigned to insure a clean getaway with the child. AGAIN HEADS HOSPITAL Charles F. Brook was re-elected chairman of the board of direc tors of the Montgomery County General Hospital at the annual meeting of the stockholders: Mrs. Margaret E. Bancroft was re elected secretary and Francis Miller, treasurer. ( Bids and Proposals * J TREASURY DEPARTMENT. Office of the Supervising Architect. Washington. D. C..
