6 FATE TOOK SHIP TO LOST AKRON HAMBURG, Germany. April 4 ■ KIKB.) .—Officials of the A. G. IWeser Steamship Company, own- Bra of the German tanker ; freighter standing by the Dirig ible Akron, down at sea, ex pressed confidence today the men aboard the giant airship would be rescued if humanly pos sible. Capt. C. Delldorf. of the tanker Phoebus, was described as an •*old, experienced, quick-witted pilot.” Officials of the company •aid: “He can be counted on for the most efficient type of res cue work.” The Phoebus, a 5,356-ton steel tanker, is 500 feet long. It was Built in 1923 and carries a crew Bf 40 men. It chanced upon the disable iidiriglble by the merest accident, tts owner said. The ship has been in New York, But left last night for the Gulf of Mexico, when it appeared it could not receive a cargo. Captain JDelldorf hoped to pick up a cargo in some southern port before re turning to Germany. APPEALS CONVICTION Thomas Gibson, colored, of Bavage, Md., was convicted yes terday in the Laurel Police Court by Judge J. Chew Sheriff, Bn charges of driving while runk and reckless driving. He fwas fined $105.40 on the two Charges and his attorney, John B. White, noted an appeal. Gib con was committed to jail in default of SSOO bond. The party is now planning to establish a “National Protestant Church” with the pur pose of removing State churches. In this connection, the news paper Tageblatt carried on its front page a purported message from Dr. S. Research Man Pleads Guilty to Larceny CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 4. Kenneth Kerr Donley, formerly of the Harvard Economic Re search Association, today pleaded guilty to 17 counts of larceny in connection with a stock sell ing scheme alleged to have cost investors a half million dollars. S.).—lmpetus toward passage in New Jersey of the uniform nar cotic act recommended by the American Bar Association and the American Medical Associa tion, was given at a hearing at the New Jersey state House. George w. Merck, of Rahway, N. J., representing pharmaceutal manufacturers who produce 80 per cent of all narcotics in the United States, gave wholehearted support to the measure. 3 Subways to Get New Light Systems Danger of traffic accidents in subways carrying K. L, and M Streets and Florida Avenue under Washington Terminal railroad tracks will be greatly alleviated soon by installation of four ad ditional high-powered lights in each subway, Walter E. Kern, District electrical engineer, re vealed today. In the K Street subway four lights will bum all day and eight at night. Cost of installation will be borne by the Washington Terminal Company.
