Ward, is alleged to have stamped the life out of the girl before the eyes of her terrorized mother, be cause he believed she had gone on a date. Sheriff R. S. Warren revealed Ward was arrested Saturday as he attended the girl’s funeral, financed with funds Ward so licited from merchants. The sheriff said Ward contended the girl was killed by an automobile. Warren said the child, bleeding from the mouth and ears, was taken to a Brunswick hospital last Wednesday and died there a few days later. He said the girl’s mother told him her husband tied her in the woods near a transient camp in nearby Jeff Davis county and chained and beat her last Tuesday night, after accusing her and the child of misconduct.
