Jfirftiia .frrc i’rros. il,nr The Self-Binder raid Our Debt. The self-binder was first successfully at tached to the reaper in l87o : from ISfii to 187 fi inclusive, our average crop of wheat, varying more with the season than with the planted area, had been 258,000,000 bushels. In 1877, when the self-binder first began to be used, the crop mounted to nearly 3b4, 000,000 bushels. Again, in 1878, it mount ed up; and from that date to inclu sive, in which period the use ol the selt binder had become general, the average crop, varying more with the season than with the planted area, was 440,000,000 bushels. Could the crops of the last ten vears have been saved without the self binder? When we consider that the total number of self-binding reaper* now made and sold is more than 100,000 a year, re quiring over 30,0**0 tons of twine to bind a single wheat crop, do we not find in the ty ing of that knot on the self-binding har vester a main factor in the export ot grain with the returning import of gold, on which we resumed specie payment? By that single improvement the cost ot w heat w as reduced not less than six per cent., and in some places teu per cent—Edvard Atkinson in the October Forum. The traiu for the West was about ready to start from the Grand Central Station, when a qu» 6'-looking set of men hurried into a special car which had been reserved for them. Sturdy-looking men they were, and strangely accoutred. Some carried lanterns, one a photographer’s outfit, while the chief of the party supported a la-so ou his right arm, and with his left hand caress ed the shiny surface of a pair ot brightly plated handcuns a oystaouer, curious iu know the meaning of this strange array, accosted one of the men, and asked whether they were a wrecking gang, and if the ac cident was a bad one. The stranger smiled, ami said : "Sir, are in the employ of the National Republican Committee, and are on our way to Indiana with instructions to find a man by the name ot Harrovian or Harrigan, who was nominated by the I’e publicans for President, a short time ago. Our orders are explicit, and we must catch him, dead or alive, he rMli ■ h t Novem ber next. Hi- presence moves a local paper to recall one of the stories which were told when John Finerty and Mr. Robinson were colleagues in the Forty seventh Congress and vied with each other in their hatred of everything English. Finerty had made a strong speech against England, declaring that a boycott ought to be put on all goods of English manufacture. “No honorable and patriotic Irishman.” shouted he, “will ever wear or u-f an article of English gixids." “(}■ 1, : ood," -aid Richelieu." “I have been preaching that doctrine for thirty years. I should think it would stick in your throat," shouted the astonished ‘‘Richelieu. The only d image to the tr.-e was the chipping of a pi. v of the trunk, as il it had beeu doue with an axe, about midwav between the ground and the lower branches. After the storm was over Mr. C. went out to look at the tree. On the ground at the f it of the tree lay an im mense black-nake, dead, holding in its rnouth a young robin. There was a robin's nest iu the tree and it w. - known to have had three young ones it the day before. A bov climbed the tree ami found two young robins in the nest. To THE Public.—We wish to say that this great and only remedy is not the result of any chances, neither is it a nostrum for speculation, but has been experimented with and thorough ly tested for two years prior to our purchasing it. The man who first used it was Moses Frantz, who had charge of a herd ot U>00 hogs in 1884. 500 of these died with cholera. Mr. Frantz and Mr. Eachus experimented in every conceivable manner to check the ravages ot the disease, dissecting many dead hogs, and compounding many prescriptions, until they happily hit upon a remedy. Before Mr. Frantz could put his remedy before the people he died from blood poisoning, brought on by cutting up .lead hogs which had died with cholera. He left all his trifling worldly effects to Mr. Eachus, who had not the necessary means to put it before the public, and who was anxious that some of his old friends should have it. When Mr. Eachus came here we had little laith in his cure, but, after testing it in many severe cases at home—notably, Mr. Rhodes and Mr. Felteberger's—we became convinced beyond doubt that it was all lie claimed for it. Since then we have used it in many severe cases, and the result is before the public Not a sin gle hog lias died which we treated, and in no case have any taken it when fed this remedy. It will cure Hog Cholera, it will prevent Hog Cholera. We have been at heavy expense placing a cure before the people, and now only ask that they appreciate our efforts by giving it a trial. .... , It will pay you to feed it if your hogs are well. It will kill every manner of louse, insect life in hog, trichinae not excepted. It will kill every nit and louse on the hog. It will cleanse vour hog of scruff or mange. It will increase the appetite five-fold. It is just what every body has been looking for. HOG CHOLERA! The disease gets its origin from a low order of insect life—on and in the animal. There is in the medicine an ingredient which extermi nates insects and nits, both internally and ex ternally. .... The kidneys do not act properly, which is also provided for. Dissecting hundreds of liog9 has shown that mortification always sets in ueiore ueaui, w uiuu is prevented by an antiseptic. Ninety-seven per cent, of hogs afflicted are constipated. To obviate this, the medicine contains a laxative and resolvent. In the other three per cent, the bowels are found to be loose, which is overcome by the use of Tincture of Opium with the medicine, as per directions on the bottle. The medicine also contains a powerful tonic to build up the debilitated condition of the hog. PRICE, $1.00 PER QUART BOTTLE. Joses & Bcti.br—Gentlemen—I have used the patented Hog Cholera preventive with successful effect. It is an excellent remedy and certainly a public blessing. A. J. RUTHERFORD.
