There will be an all day Missionary
Meeting in the M. E. Church, South on
Monday February 22d in the interest of
the Laymen’s Missionary Movement.
Bishop A. W. Wilson is expected to be
present and make an address in the
morning and preach a sermon at night.
Judge Newman of Woodstock, Va., will
speak in the afternoon, a number of lay
men from the district will be present,
and a vigorous campaign will be organ
ized for the promotion of the movement.
Services will begin at 10.15 a. m., 2 p.
m. and 7.30p. m. Everybody is cordially
invited to attend all of these services.
Mr. Herbert L. Alexander entertain
ed a number of his insurance friends
from out of the city at his home on
West King Street, Thursday evening.
The event was given to commemorate
tbe fifteen anniversary of Mr. Alexan
der’s advent into the insurance busi
ness in this city. During the evening
the guests were invited into the dining
room where supper was served. The
table was beautifully trimmed with red
carnations. Mr. Alexander is one Mar
tinsburg’s most influential and pros
perous business men and is one of the
leading insurance agents in this city,
in which enterprise he has been very
