"Ami 1 was ndiuiriug you only tlRs morning," "Well, that seems like a long time tgo to me," said Mr. Aoudad. "YeS, this warning seems like a long time iway. And, to be sure, this morning a as a long time oft. Why, ever and nor so many moments have gone by md even some hours." "Of course." said Mrs. Aoudad, 'most creatures do not think moments mean a long, long time, and even a Tew hours do not seem so long a time ither to m >st creatures." "I aiu not 'most creatures,'" said Mr. Aoudad. "I know that," said Mrs. Aoudad. ! "Then why tell me that most creatures do uot think minutes or even a few hours amount to much? 1 think so, and I am Mr. Aoudad, und I like to have my own way. "1 have always told you I liked to lave lay own way. You know, too, that I like to have my own food In my own way." "Which moans," salcl Mrs. Aoudad, "that you like to have your food tlrst. II }AS ifl ^ "Never Get Tired." You like me to wait until you are ill through before 1 begin to eat." "I don't merely like you to wult un til I nnt all through eating until you begin." said Mr. Aoudnd. "I insist " "To be sure, to be sure," said Mrs. Aoudad. "Well now," said Mr. Aoudad, "nd- ; in Ire me and tell me what a handsome fellow I nm." "But suppose 1 don't think so," said Mrs. Aoudad. "That Is Impossible. Imposslltle! No creature with brains can help but admire me, Mrs. Aoudad. You kuovv , that. So admire me, please." "Ah yes," said Mrs. Aoudad, "I know that. And I do udmire you. I nd- ' mire your fine horns and I admire : you long goatee. I'erhups 1 should call it your necktie Instead of your goatee." "That Is what you should cnll It," said Mr. Aoudad. "I have a line necklie, It Is true. I don't hnve a little skimpy how tie but I have u fine shag gy front which I cnll my necktie. It Is a generous necktie." "Can neckties be generous?" nsked Mrs. Aoudad. "Mine Is, 1 know that," said Mr. ; Aoudad. "But as a rule neckties aren't gen erous," Mrs. Aoudad said. "They don't give presents," she con tlnued. "They vdon't snve up their , money and give lovely things to otli crs." "< >f course not," said Mr. Aoudad, "for neckties aren't people. People 1 give to others. Neckties aren't birds. Birds give to other birds. They feed 1 their little ones and they feed their mates. Neckties are simply neckties." "Then why do you say that your Decktle Is generous?" asked Mrs. toudad. 11 "Because there Is plenty of It," said Mr. Aoudad. "Xow when one speaks af a generous portion of food one moans that tliere Is a good-sized por- i1 Ion of food. 11 "That Is what I moan when 1 say [ wear a generous neektle." "Oh, I see," said Mrs. Aoudnd. "Of course yen see," said Mr. toudnd. "If you didn't see I'd feel sorry for you because you wouldn't be ible to see what a beautiful animal rour rnnte Is." "Gracious," said Mrs. Aoudnd, "but j pou are conceited." "Now, now, Mrs. Aoudnd, you nustn't talk like that. That isn't a peasant way of admiring a mate." "True, true." said Mrs. Aoudnd. 'Itut I can't think of any new tilings o praise you about." "That's all right," said Mr. Aoudnd. i 'The old ones suit me just as well. L'he fact is I never get tired of havng the same sort of admiration over ind over again." So Mr. Aotitani stood upon a rock ind Mrs. Aoudnd said: "You are one of the finest. If not I he very finest, wild sheep I have ever teen. "You do not mind the weather In the zoo though you were used to the hot mountains of Africa when you were free, and you stand most beaut!- [ fully, most beautifully, Mr. Aoudnd. rhat Is what you like to hear, I know." "It Is what I like to hear," agreed Mr. Aoudnd. Bixrvnt Cwl Mine in the World. What eventually prrm scs to be the greatest coal operation in West Virginia. if not in the country, is being developed at Three Forks, a mining community three miles from Lundale. Logan county, on Buffalo Creek. When all plans have been carried out, coal will be taken simultaenously from 5v2 openings into the same coal seam, which lies high up the mountainside. The line along which the openings are being made is three miles long and virtually girdles one of the largest mountains in Logan county. Depression in the coal industry has retarded development of the operation. but the entire project is expected to be finished in two years. The Three Forks operation is one of the youngest sponsored by the Lundale Goal Company interests, of which George M.
