Duel with Humphrey Marehàl.

We hnve in our possession a letter written by
llenry Clay Just After Ills duel with Hum
phrey Marshal. Tho document was written
before the days of our convenient modern en
velopes, ami bears upon its back the following
address : "Samuel U. Hopkins or James
, Frankfort." Sainmuel U. Hop
brother of the late Miss Miry U.
Hopkins, of this city, among , whose papers
the letter was found one day Inst week. Jos.
Clark, Esq., was Uovernor of Kentucky a feW
years alter the letter was written. Here It la :
Louisville, 19 Jan.— 9.
Dr. Clark:—V have this moment returned
from the field of battle. We bad three shots.
On the first I grazed him just above the naval
—be missed me. On the second my damned
pistol snapped, and be missed me. On Ike
third I received a flesh wound In the thigh
and owing Ip my receiving bis first fire, Ac.,
missed him
My wound is no way serious, as the bone is
unhurt,but prudence will require me to remain
