Lowndes, oi Ularksburg, are to be in Pittaburgh to-day in ihe iniereat ol tbe proposed railroad down tbe valleys ol tbe Weal Fork and tbe MonoDgahela rivers to Uulontown, Pa., The project contemplates a railroad connection between ITaiinntnu.ii anil the l'tmUHvlvanift lOftd. Thia id a fa\orito ecbeu* ia both ilarriaon uud'Marion counties, and bolh voted a large amount if money last mouth (the former lloO.UOO and the latter $100,000) lor tho purjtosB of asaiating this or some other road through their territory that promitea to be a competitor to the Baltimore A Onio road, Pittaburgh naturally ukea a lively intereat in a road oI thia kind, not only for its local advrntagea but because it promises to be an important link iu a line that will connect thein with the New Kiver oie fields. No doubt uuch a railroad aa the one propoetd will be cf great advantage to the country through wnich it will paaa. There ia bouutl to bd a railroad from Pittsburgh to the Weat Virginia ore fields. Such an event ia ouly a question of time and no distant time at that. If our Wheeling. Pittsburgh &, Charleston road wab completed it would be utilized aa an ere road by Pittsburgh, but inasmuch aa it exists only 88 yet on paper, the Irienda of tke proposed road from Utioutown to Fairmont and Clarksburg have sufficient leverage on which to woik' up an iutereat in the Iron City. The proposed road should be built with* out tegard to a river line, and for the rake of the interior counties of Went Virginia every well wisher of the Htate will join in the hopo that the present scheme may materialize iuto an actual success. Now is the time for our friends in the interior to push their project. If they let the present deposition to engage in such schemes pass without utilisation, It may be years before they cau successfully revivo it. Wfii viriciuiM iiDkUN flelAlla.
