E. W. S. Mooro and wife, of West
Virginia, registered at tho Monongahela
House yesterday. Mr. Mooro is secretary
and treasurer of tho West Virginia
Central & Pittsburgh railroad. This is
tho Davis-Elkins line. At present it
runs from Cumberland to Elkins, a distance
of 113 miles. It is ono of tt?? few
paying short lines in tho United Statos.
At proaent arrangements aro being
mado to ojrtend tho road to Charleston.
It runs through a rich coal und timber
country, 'fhn original plan was to
build the railroad to Pittsburgh, as
part of tho name implies. This will
undoubtedly be done some day. When tho
tftato Line road is completed, which will
probably bo in another month, tho Baltimore
& Ohio will havo its own routo
to Morgantown, where it will connect
with the Camden system of roads. Tho
railroad development in West Virginia
in the last five years has been extensive.
Tho Pennsylvania road from iirownsvillo
to Morgantown along the Monongahola
river will likely bo built next
summer. The route has been surveyed
several times, and tho Morgantown people
wj?re led to bcliove that the rails
would be laid last summer, but owing
to tho improvements mado for the
World's Fair its construction was postnniwul

Pennsylvania road is built Pittsburgh
will have mora diract communication
with tho richost sections ot West Virginia.
It is a long limo coming, but it
will be realized in a ic<v more yoars.
