The direct feed wire that is being strung from the South Side power house the Wheeling Railway Company to the city division of the Wheeling & Elm Grove Railway Company, will be con nected this morning. It is anticipated ' that more satisfactory power will then j be had by the Wheeling & Elm Grove. A FAMOUS DEBATE. The Macedonia church entertain ment, which was postponed last week, will be given at the church, on Charles street, next Saturday evening. The leading feature will be the debate, which prorfllses to be lr.-terestingto the highest pitch. There also will be good singing by Prof. Craig's chorus of twenty-live voices. The question for debate has been previously outlined In these col umns. and hinges upon the question ot ; giving the most credit to the man who rows a boat, or the man who owns the j boat, in the event of rescuing a drown ing person. There will be four debators, those supporting the oarsman being Major Joseph Kinsey and J. Ross; ad vocates of the boat's claim, Will Jus tice and F. H. Hogan. Street Commissioner Jake Brltt stated that the "white wings" street cleaning brigade was In shapo to begin operations as soon as the weather Is propitious. It was decided to place the "white wings" In service tills mofnlng for the first time. Street Commissioner Brltt has detailed his uniformed men as fol lows: Tumor, Ninth street to Market alley; Davis, Market alley to Twelfth street: Young. Twelfth to Fourteenth street: Taylor, Fourteenth street to the creek. Mr. Howland seems to have no site In the Sixth ward. To-day he will attempt to secure a site for bis plant, and the matter will probably come up In some shape at the meeting of council to-night.
