More recruits were out than on any previous evening, and the company bids fair to present a soldierly appearance before long. Lost night Captain WlIMs mid ho had received word from Adjutant General Appletojv, hurrying the formation of the company, and Informing him that the Wheeling boys may bo called on at any moment. The company will soon be up to Its full strength, and Wheeling men desir ing a place In It should lose no time In enrolling themselves, forjiomcs for the company are being received at Grafton, Cameron, Moundsvillo and three other points. At all ot these places squads aro being drilled, and will be mustered; Into the company when orders to move to the mobilizing point In this state are received. Captain Willis took occasion to refer Inst night to the movement on foot to provide the company with Cu ban campaign uniforms, which, he hoped would be successful. Tho enrollment has reached seventy flvo men, several being taken In last night. The Birmingham, Ala., News, of May 20th says: Dr. Thomas Earle Evlns, who has been appointed a chief surgeon, with the rank of major, in the United States army, is the son-in-law of Mr. Joseph H. Woodward, president of the Woodward Iron Company, having mar ried several years ago Miss Polly Wood ward. He resides In this city, where he and his lovely wife have many friends, who will be rejoiced to hear of the honor conferred. Dr. Evlns Is and has been for several years physician for the Woodward Iron Company, in charge of the practice at their mines and fur naces. Dr. Evlns' father was surgeon general on General Hill's staff In tho Confederate army, .and was at one time acting Burgeon general for the Confed erate army at large.
