rough riders gave their last parade. Nearly 30? Mon Were in line! and the IJarchera Wero Given a Tine Reception. WASHINGTON DISTRICT THERE Two Hundred Strong?Fulton Boys' Club a Feature? The Farado Was Delayed. The fourth and last of the sectional street demonstrations by the First West Virginia Hough.Rider regiment, occurred /rust night over the strets of North Wheeling Owing to some friction nmons the clubs, caused by the failure* of the Washington district boys to turn out Wednesday night for the South Sldo parade, th?: i^ver-the-creek companies ,?ld not appear In last night's demonstration, but It wan a success nevertheless. Tlit' companies, Washington, Clay and Clay-Union, rendezvoused on Twentieth street, South' Side, and owing to thy Democratic parade's route b,eing down Market street, the line could not move until the "Demmles" had got out of the way. It was after 9 o'clock when Major George W. Otto, who was in command, gave the order to move. The following organizations wore in line: Major G. W. Otto anil staff. Molgtcr'n Band. Washington Rough Riders. Cupt. R. D. Otto?S'l men. Washington District Citizens' Republican Club?80 men. Fulton Boys' Republican Club?20 boys. Clay-L'nlon Rough Riders, Capt. Crawford, .12 men. Clay Colored* Rough Riders, Captain Branson?50 men. Total number of men In line?201 men. As the column came up Market street the scene Was one to be remembered. There was this difference: While the Democratic marchers had made all the noise?or most of It?that characterized their demonstration, on the other hand ihe Republican marchers were cheered by the multitude, In so hearty a fashion that It could be seen at a glance that the great mass of the people on the streets were Republicans. Following the marchers was a carriage containing Congressman Dovener, Colonel Phil Waters, the "colored Demosthenes of the Kanawha valley," and Congressional Chairman S_ G. Smith. These gentlemen received an oration all along the line. Their carriage was surrounded by the colored Rough Riders, who made a fine showing.' The route was through North wheel- !| Ing on Main street to Jonathan's ravine, and the North Enders gave the boys In Khaki a genuine old fashioned West Virginia welcome. At the conclusion of the parade, the speakers were escorted to Turner hall, where a meeting under the auspices of the colored Republicans was held, with .Mr. Alex Turner as chairman. He Introduced as the llrst speaker, Colonel Waters, who addressed himself especially to his fellow colored citizens, and wade a magnificent argument on the ; issues of the campaign. He was applauded to the echo at frequent inter-' vals. He was followed by Congressman Dovener, whose speech was logical, eloquent and at times very witty. It was the banner meeting of the campaign for the colored Republicans. f WEST V BENWOOD. McMECHEN. ; IN BENWOOD CHURCHES. Ministers ^are Interesting Topics For To-Morrow.
