plying between Baltimore and Philadelphin. Cap
tain Thomas disguised as a funale, with several
others, took passage for Philadelphia. At some
point below Baltimore, Commodore 1loilins iihitl
others went ahoard: subsequently the wh:'e party
armed them.elves and took e'bar"te of the -teatnter
with little o; ppa'ition.
luiport says Capt. Thomas was disguised as a
French lady, and Hollins recognized her as a
Parisian acquaintance many year< ago. A long
French 'rinver-ation ensued, and at one o'clock
Saturday ni.ht, the p -rty appenred thoroughly
armed with ireairmn', enttlaSe1, .t :., andl took poe
session of the steatner. Universal gratification is
expressed at thi< nehieveuaent.
They also took a Baltimore hark, with 3.000
saess of rotfee, and a schooner with two hundred
tuns of . bound for Washington, and a schooner
with 200n tons of coal for the Federal fleet.
The St. Niehol.is was brought to Fredericks
burg.
The bark and schooners were landed on the
Rappahannock river, above the Coufederate hat
teries.
The steamner St. Nicholas was a valuable mail
steamer. and believed to have on board interesting

dispatches. money, and a valuable freight.
