n the blissful realms of Paradise. This we know from the blessed prouises of God's Holy Bible:I frout her pious life and Godly conversation: and from the manner in which she met Death's dread sittninons : not with fear and trembling, but with a hopeful assurance of a blessed imumortality wi:h - tod on high; " Sustained and .oothed 1By an unfaltering trust, she approached the grave Like one that draws the drapery of his couch About hin, and lies down to pleasant dreams." 11 Mrs. PHILLI.trs became a member of the Moon tain Creek Baptist Church about twenty-five years to ago, and throughout this teri of years, her faith has ever been manit'ested by her good works always the same meek Christian. not of the des pounding and gloomy type, but of that sweet spirit S that enabled her to scatter joy. and love, and sunshine, niud hope, and heaven withersoever she went. But it is useless to say more. Those who knew her, cannot soon forget her many virtues. Let us long reumeniber them had strive to imitate. Fare well, aged friend-thod' wert ripe fqr the grave, and prepared for eternity. In Heaven we hope to moeet thee. * " THE NEWS.--" Old Secession" was again un- de. covered yesterday evening and thundered forth a salute in honor of the passage of an Ordi- a. nance of Secession by the Legislature of Mic- mt souri. T 1E subscribers hereby notify the Farmers and Planters of the Southern Confederacy that they are now establishing a factory for the production of a commercial Fertilizer, which they believe will be found equal toa any fertilizor here toforu purchase1. from the North. All the ingre dients of the SOUTIIIltN COMPOUND FER TILIZER are fluud in abundance in the South, and only require the application of scientific knowledge tit make us perfectly independent of our cnuies, even in this particular. Our into ition is to sell our Planters an honest and reliable Fertilizer, peculiarly adapted to our own soil, climate, and crops, and, as far as possi ble, shield them from the gross impositions so r frequently palmed upon them by Northern ma- I cure maanu'aeturers. Our Fertilizer contains all the elements neces. sary for the food of plants. heing composed of 1'ULVEIIZE) NIGHIT SOIL, POTASH, DIS. n SOLVED) BONES, SULPh URIC ACID, PLAS. TElt anl LIME. The manure thus formed, con taining a large per centao of potash snad other alkaline salts, will render it itculuaole for cotton, and will be found to influence the growth of all other crops suiciently early in the season, though not quite so promptly as Peruvian Guano. It will hold out longer, and mature the seed perfectly, giving diecidcdly the best crops, and will show irself in mut instancos superior to Guano or many other of the most populatr fertilizers. We shall he ready to supply the Fertilizor about the 5th of September. Price, $45 per ton of' 2,000 lbs., cash, bankable paper, or Confederate State ]funds. It. M. STOKES & CO. .Columbia, S.
