Miss Gary, of Florida, who has been on u visit of some days to Miss Mary Evans at the Governors Mansion, Co lumbia, left Columbia on Saturday last to visit friends in Newberry. We are requested to announce that the Simmons Ridge Samaritan Asso ciation will meet with the New Hope Baptist church on Thursday before | tho third Sunday in October, 1895. Dr. Robt. A. Marsh has gone to Bal timore to put the finishing tou :h on his education. He has been reading medicine with Drs. Hill and Tomp kins for a year or more and is al ready well prepared to practise his ehoscn profession. Last Sunday night the services in the Baptist church were devoted en tire!} to foreign missions. On that occasion J. H. Cantelou Esq., deliver ed an excellent address on tbis im portant subject, and Mr. T. B. Lanham read nn interesting essay on the same theme. A rt ic tic and Ornate. Wm. The hearts of all our people go out to Sheriff Ouzts and family in this their .?as: affliction, the death of Yan cey Ouzts, that took place on last Fri day. Yancey was the fourth son that the Sheriff has lost within ten years aud a braver more manly youth has never lived or died in Edgefield than Yancey Ouzts. In the very prime of young manhood he was taken from earth and we trust finds a sweet re pose where there is no more sorrow pain or sickness. Peace to his inomory. Excursion to Atlanta. v Miss Sophie Abney of our town has about perfected arrangements to run an Excursion train to Atluutn on or about the 80th October instant. This Excursion will be made for the pur pose of taking in the Atlanta Expo sition. The rates will be exceedingly cheap and the time given will be am ple to see all the sights and have a heap of fun. Each coach will be in charge of a reliable gentleman and perfect order wil l be preserved. Barbecue at Ber ea.
