Edge li eld's Heavy Cotton Receip t s Either more cotton has been produc d iii the county this year than la. t or the high price that has prevailed on the Edgefield market has caused cotton to bn brought here that m 'h- past was c?rried to other placeR. The re ceipts to date, according to.the lecords of Mr. Oheatham, the public cotton weigher, aggregate upwards of 7,000 bales, which is more than was received here dur ing the entire season of 1904-05. During the last three seasons the Edgefield buyers haye left no stones unturned to make this rank among the leading markets of this section, and the steady inorease in the amouut of the staple that is brought here shows how admira bly they have succeeded. Union Thanksgiving Service. The pastors of our town have* arranged for au ion thanksgiving service to be held in the Metho dist church on Thursday morniug at eleven o'clock. Instead of a regular sermon the bour will be taken up with prayer, praise and short iuformal talks from all of the pastors " Unfortunately-be cause business is generally sus pended on Thanksgiving day many rogar ! .i aa a holiday, when it should rather be observed as a holy day. It is earnestly desired that this special servioe shall be largely attended. Certaiuly every heart should feel prompted to render thanks to the Great Giver of every good aud perfect gift. At the close of the servioe a collection will bd taken whioh will be divi ded among the several orphanages that are supported by the denomi nations of our town.
