A. certain shepherd boy was keep ing his.sheep in a flowery; meadoV, and .because his heart iras happ?"*, he sang so loudly that the surround ing hills echoed back his song. One morning the king, who was out hunting, spoke to him and said" "Why are you so happy, my boy?" "Why should- I not be^ happy?" answered the boy. "Our king is not richer than I." "Indeed," said the king, "pray tell me of your great possessions/* (( The shepherd boy answered : The sun in the. bright blue sky shines as brightly upon me as upon the king. The flowers upon the moun tain and the grass in the valley grow and bloom to gladden my sight as well as me. I would not take a hun dred thousand dollars for my hands; my eyes are of more value than all the precious stones in the world., I have food and clothing, too. Am I not, therefore, as rich as the king?" "You are right," said the king, with a smile, "but your greatest treasure is your contented heart. Keep it so, and you will always be happy. Newspaper Men to Become Clemson Cadets For a Week. The South Carolina Press asso ciation will be asked to hold, its meeting at Clemson College in 1310, and the association will also be ask ed to pay a visit of one day to the college this summer while the meet ing is in progress at Greenville. This has been decided on by the college authorities, who propose to defray the cost of entertaining the editors out of their own po ck et u. The step was decided on because of the discussion that has been going on over the college and its affairs. The college authorities de cided that they would ask the edi tors of the State to visit Clemson and inspect the plant and become familiar with* its management in all details. The entire college prop, erty will be turned over to the edi tors for a week, and they will be asked to inspect and criticise every thing.. The college authorities say t&ey are sincere in this. They want the newspaper men to become familiar with everything connected with the college and to write as they see fit in their papers; so that the people of the state may know just what is going on at Clemson. The invitation will doubtless ap^ peal strongly to many members bf the Press association, and it is quite likely that the meeting of 1910 may be held at Clemson College.-Co lumbia Record.
