Such has indeed the case :or the past two weeks, at intervals /arying in their results and conclu sions. First of all, the spi-ing with its birds and flowers has burst before us reminding us that amid the encir cling gloom of winter, the birds have not forgotten to sing nor the floawers ?IO lend tc- the waiting earth their fragrance and beauty. Singularly contrasted with this joy ind happiness came the natur?! re verse as the pendulum of time swung jackward. March came in like a lion \nd in like manner passed out, the result of which departure is ^*?ontin jing into sunny April. We were surprised that for some inknown reason last week's news, luly written and posted by Miss Hei rn Gardner, did not reach it sdesti ?ation, so of course, failed to appear n The Advertiser. Wind storms, not to mention other vashing tornadoes, caused the loss of valuable crops of corn, cotton and tobacco in this section, of the country. The farmers are heavily damaged through the terrible washouts, in their nicely prepared lands. Sunday afternoon the Cooper school children enjoyed an egg hunt at Sweetwater church. All of them were there willi a hunib?r of their parents, who kindly assisted in hid ing the eggs. The first prize was given to Mr. J. Q. Cogburn, of the larger children for finding the most eggs, and to Miss Kathrine Reece among the smaller children. We are all glad that we are having a nice well bored for a pump to fur nish water on the school gTounds. It is a great disappointment that we will be unable to get State aid in the purchase of oUi' library, after all plans and applications' had been made. But we still hope to get lt Any way. The legislature has failed to make its usual appropriation of $5,000 for such purposes. There will be a meeting of the School Improvement Association at an early date to discuss this question, and other business, arid everyone in terested is urged to be present, . \ It is with deep regret we learned of the death of Mrs, Sallie Bunch.
