Tory groat merit:
TO AUTUMN WINDS.
O, melancholy prospects of decay
And beauty's fall.
Bleak Autumn -winds, onco more ye rise and play
Your gusty trumps along tho forest-way.
Which dead loaves pall
Lol when ye come tho skies arc robed in gray
And gloomy clouds;
Vapors enwrap the white brow of the day.
And fair flowers glide, as. 'mid their haunts, ye stray
Into their shrouds.
AU nature shudders when your tones ar? hoard.
And when ye near
The chilly streams, their waves aro wildly stirred.
Dreaming ot ley chains, and aoaroe a bird
Wallang tor fear.
Ye are stern heralds, and ye loudly tell
. f Winter's drear
And Summer's death, of which ya are the knoll.
Reminding us that we soon lade as well ,
And disappear.

The doman d for tho staple continues limited, lac toro

New Orleans Market.
NEW ORLEANS, January 9.-COTTON_Although sales
today reached 4000 bales, including a round lot nf 1000
bales fully good ordinary from Arkansas, at an extreme
figure, the market was rather easier, and most of the
sales were at the inside rates of our quotations. There
would have been stul heavier sales, but that sellers
would not submit to the reduottuu insisted on by pur?
chasers. It is evident there is a fuU domana at quoat
Uous for aU the good staple cotton offered: so it ls hardly
worth while to change them, and we continue to quote:
Ordinary 28a30c ; good ordinary SlaSl tic; low middling

SUGAR AND MOLASSES-The receipts since yesterday
