In this connection, we wish to introdoce
une extracts from a private letter, received
from a gentleman in Fremont County, in
tliis State. Our correspondent says, that
''wishing to know from experiment, wheth
er what was being published in respect to
the Sorghum, was exaggerated, I procured
some seed. It has done well. I have not
sufficient to be at the expense of a press this
season, but I experimented with the cane,
from time to time, expressing the juice as
best 1 could, with a contrivance of my own.
I nm now quite satisfied that the facts, so
far as 1 have seen them, aro not over-stated.
I have made some of the best Syrup that 1
i* tasted, equal to
to the golden syrup. 1 have not yet tried
to make sugar, though 1 jel quite satisfied
that it can be made. If I have time, I shall
make the experiment. It has proved suc
cessful in other places, so doubtless will

late, or a mixture of the Sorghum with the
broom-corn, so that it was entirely useless.
The cane possesses another quality, of which
we were not before fully aware—it is very
valuable for fodder. Our correspondent
•ays—"I will add, that, in addition to its
value as n Syrup and Sugar-producing crop,
it is invaluable for fodder it will produce
two crops of fodder in the year, and I am
of the opinion that, properly attended, near
ly, if not quite ten tons of fodder to the
