He couies to this country as a representative of British capitalists interested in American rail roads. lie said the foreign shareholders were under a pauic in regard to their American investments they are frigh tened about injunctions and contradic tory jurisdictions. He believed if there was steadiness in our railroad manage ment. many English capitalists would gladly invest here largely. He had seen the President, several leading Senators and Gov. Hofl'mau on the subject, and his suggestion was that a railroad that passes through several States the Federal and not the State courts should have jurisdiction. We were pleased to seo, not long since, in one of our exchanges, some pretty severe remarks addressed to sev eral persons who, during an interesting lecture by Rev. Jno. S. C. Abbott, kept a continuous coughing, which prevented many from hearing.
