News.—Mrs. W.
H. Clifton re-
ceived a letter from the Coroner at
Qhlncv, 111., on Saturday last, inform
ing her that the body of her son,
Charles H. Clifton, had been found in
the river near that place, an inquest
held thereon and buried at West
Quincy. The body was identified by
having in one of his pockets a letter
from his mother and one from Henry
Shock, who, it will be remembered, left
here with Charley some time last Sum
mer. The Coroner stated that the
body appeared to have beert in the ice
for a long time, aud was so badly mu
tilated that no opinion could be formed
as to whether he had been accidentally
drowned, or had met death from some
other source. There tvere no valuables
found on the body. The last heard of
Charley, he was running on the
tlucker
one of the Northern Line Pack
ets, and the probability is that he was
accidentally drowned.

stood in front of the office, and took

At this juncture the old gray mare
that delivers cheap groceries for Park

slow one she made) but after running
down to Main street she wo-cd, and
the ponies went it alone.
The last we saw of them, they were
going around the corner of the Star

them, followed by three or four hun

P. S. Fifteen minutes afttfrthe run

After leaving the Academy, unlike
