Eureka, Libby Invade Local Court weekend on the home floor this Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats play Eureka, Fri day at 8 p.m., and Libby, Satur day at 8 p.m. There will ne pre liminaries between the B teams at 7. Both the visiting teams are un defeated so far this season, while Columbia Falls has a one and two record: win over Bigfork 52-29 and losses to Poison 55-40 and Anaconda Central 63-46. Libby last weekend defeated Whitefish 49-40 and Plains 55-39 while Eureka won over Troy 62 54 and Fernie 54-30. Eureka top ped Bigfork 46-45 Dec. 4. Coach Bud Beagle has been us ing Allan Hamilton 6'1" senior at guard, and is now putting him back at forward, the position he played last year. Hamilton is ex pected to bolster the Wildcats' strength at the backboard, where they were weak in the Anaconda Central game. Jim Kruse, another senior and transfer from Bigfork, may be come a starter in the guard posi tion. Columbia Falls' starting lineup apparently is to be Hamilton at left forward; Patterson at right forward; Garey at center with Crandall and Kruse, guards. Pat terson is 6'2 and Garey 6'5. There is good height factor and the sea son has just started. Last year Columbia Falls tied with Poison and Ronan for second in conference play with Whitefish in first place. The Wildcats were tops in the conference during De cember, and then lost games in late January and February. ' The Wildcats played fairly good ball during the first quarter of the Poison game leading 16-13, and then fell apart under a full court press. Poison was all - over the Falls players though the half end ed 21-20 in favor of Columbia Falls. Columbia Falls went to pieces in the last half. They couldn't score even from the free throw line. The local boys showed some what better against Anaconda Central, but the Wildcats were completely outclassed at the back board. When Hamilton was shift ed from guard to forward in the last half, the situation improved somewhat. Crandall and Patterson were in good form. Arvish, 6'5 Anaconda center was the standout player, with good scoring ability. Other western Montana games last weekend saw Whitefish defeat Ronan 63-39; St. Ignatius top An aconda Central in Mission's crack erbox gym 79-54, and Poison take Hamilton 53-34. Flathead beat Anaconda 48 to 41 for their first cage win of the season having lost to Bozeman, Livingston and Butte Central. Coach L. W. McNeil's B team played the Poison B team in the last Friday preliminary there coming from behind from 22 to 10 to lose by 4 points, 40 to 36. Preliminary before the Anacon da Central game saw Coach Ralph Barnaby's grade school Kittens de feat Bigfork grade school 42 to 17. Arvish was high scorer Saturday with 22 for Anaconda Central and Hillman made 16 for Poison. Ham ilton had 11 points against Ana conda and 13 in the Poison game for high score in the Wildcat to tals. \ m M $ V i. m \ m v m •• r \ :: ■i.
