Green Clay Smith, and yet he heaps as persions upon the illustrious name of the dead preacher by boldly stating to the public that before his death he had formed an alli ance with him (Call) to "travel over Florida in advocacy of his re election to the senate." What would an intelligent people think of a minister who would quit his pulpit and mount the political hus tings to advocate the re-election of such a man as Mr. Call? We can not believe that our dear, departed brother, whose eloquent, tongue and facile pen were wholly conse crated to the cause of religion and moral reform, ever dreamed of coming to Florida for such an un godly purpose. But this shows what bewitching fables Mr. Call will relate to delude the "dear people" and keep him self in office. The dear old man has about run his race and it is hard for him to make up his mind to turn over his lucrative office to s. another. He has our sympathy, but he cannot get our vote, for the simple reason that we regard him as being morally unfit for the po sition.
