3y the Ocala Temperance Reform Club. Edited by J. A. A'.unden. "The Club meets every Sunday afternoon at four o'clock in Temperance Hall. The Public are invited. A PLEA FOR THE RIGHT. It seems to me that there is no subject as broad, as deep, and as high and far reaching as that of intemperance.- It affects mankind everywhere, and blights the human race wher ever it goes. Against this evil I would fall my length and rise with the banner of temperance and plant it if pos sible in every village, in every city -and on the summit of every hill and mountain in the world. More than iooooo American souls perish every year as the re sult of alcohol. There is a man running for the physician. What is the matter? A woman dying. Cause whisky. ; Listen to the crying and the screams of the children in the cab in on the hillside. What's the matter? Papa's away on a drunken ram ble; no bread to eat; mother dying with grief. Cause whisky. Here's a grave. Who's buried here? k A prominent lawyer. When did he die? Years ago. Cause whisky. Here's a beautiful, happy home, .surrounded by beautiful groves, in which the little birds warble and sing their sweetest melodies- flowers in the yard, music in the parlor a family circle Annie in the parlor singing "Sweet By and By;" Willie reading Youth's Com panion; papa studying the Bible; mamma crocheting a temperance home all happy. A few years later no flowers in the yard; dilapidated, abandoned house; broken window panes; car pet sold for debt; no music. Where is Annie? In the county poorhouse. Where is Willie? Killed his best friend and was hanged. ' Where is papa? A drunken debauchee. But oh! where is mother? Died of a broken heart. Cause intemperance. This is but a dim picture of the great home-wrecker and heart render which is blighting our na tion today. Vote for prohibition! Vote for wife and child! Vote for mother, home and heaven! Robert Mclnturff, in the Pilot. Loyal Temperance Legion Thurs day night at temperance hall were exceedingly interesting, the pro gram as published being fully car ried out. Willie T.
