IN THE SOCIAL SWIM
The Reception the Silver Tea and
the Dance Last Night All
V Well Attended
The social airs and graces that I
Ocala is assuming are really surpris
ing Think of it three social attrac
tions in one night all crowded to the
foyer and then aay ve are not a gay
set not gay in the sense of naughty
but just socially and happily
The rector of Grace Episcopal
church Rev Henry W Little and
his charming wife tendered a recep
tion to his parishioners and their
friends at the handsome and spacious
rectory on Oftlawaha avenue from
70 to 10 30 p m There was not a
dull moment The crowd which came
and went consisted of the mem
bers of the church and their friends
and wore received by Mr Little and
wife so cordially that they felt at
home immediately Sociability was
the order of the hour and the cares
of life were relegated to the rear
Mrs Harry Clarkson and Mrs Hor
ace Harold presided at the lovely din
ing table with grace and dignity and
tilled cup after cup with that which
cheers but not inebriates tea cof
foe and chocolate while the Misses
Ford Dye Smith Sinclair Pereda
and Foster served with sandwiches
rake and whatnot in quality so fine
in quantity so abundant that all en
joyed a great good treat
Among the happy company we no
ticed Mr and Mrs Don Mclver Mr
Sidney Ilillur and his lovely mother
Mrs Edwards of the Ocala House
and her charming sister Mrs White
everybodys friend and Mr H A
Ford who was accompanied by sev
eral outoftowns notably Mrs Hig
ginbotham of Leesburg the friend
and guost of Mrs Tatham and Mrs
Koonce the brilliant wife of the ris
ing young statesman of Sumterville
Editor J C 13 Koonce This men
tion would he incomplete without I
noting the presence of Mrs Anna
Bond Hopkins of Orange Lake a
true disciple of the church and a
ministering angel in all good works
There were others Miss Annie
Sharpe the gifted kindergartner
Mrs Jl L Carney Miss Teague of
Lady Lake Mrs G S Scott and
Mrs George MacKay all good Pres
byterians the entertaining Misses
Sara and Violet Harris Captain Ea
ton knight of the bell cord and oth
ers whom the reporter did not know
The Rector who is a large man
physically intellectually and spiritu
ally invited all his brethren of the
cloth of other denominations but pri
or engagements forced their absence
In these meetings and greetings
the Rector desires to become ac
quainted not only with the members
of his flock but with those of other
religious orders as well as the gen
I eral public of the towns citizenship
Mr Little comes to us to infuse his
genial persbnality and splendid tal
ents into the helpful spirit of the best
work in building up the community a
purpose we should be only too glad to
reciprocate
The occasion was a great success
the evening a delightful one and we
hope that our new found friends
have as pleasant thoughts and agree
able impressions of the callers as II
they formed of the called on and it
will grow and spread until there is a
I
true spirit of denominational reci
procity in the community
i Wo had almost forgotten the draw
I ing of a lovely centerpiece Mr Lit
tle acted as the drawer No 21 was
the hypnotized numeral and the hold
er was none other than Miss Tatham

propriate Vhile taking a deep inter

I The Baptist Silver Tea
Which was held at the Montezuma
and for the magnificent success at
tending which Mrs Booe and Mr
Mitchell the proprietors did so
much clipped a few notches as the
turfmen say off of record breakers
along this line Not only was the
parlor thrown open but several
large rooms formerly part of the old
dining room were thronged with
socially inclined people of every cut
and bias of denominational garments
Every avenue was full but the hu
man current was strong and eddies
and cuuuter eddies were sent in ev
ery direction
