THE BEST REMEDY FOR CROUP
s
From the Atchison Kan Daily Globe
This is the season when the woman
who knows the best remedies for
croup is in demand in every neighbor
hood One of the most terrible things
in the world is to be awakened in the
middle of the night by a whoop from
one of the children The croup rem
edies are almost as sure to be lost in
cases of croup as a revolver is sure
to be lost in case of burglars There
nused to be an oldfashioned remedy
for croup known as hive syrup and
tolu but some modern mothers say
that Chamberlains Cough Remedy is
better and does not cost so much It
causes the patient to throw up the
phlegm quicker and gives relief in a
shorter time Give this remedy as
soon as the croupy cough appears and
it will prevent the attack It never
fails and is pleasant and safe to take

If TH CHURCHES SUNDAY
f
TJie churches were fairly attended
yesterday
In the absence of Dr Lindsay of the
Presbyterian church Dr Faris of Can

ing There were no services at night
Rev H W Little of Grace Episco
pal church in his morning service
stressed the importance of being on
the watch prepared to meet the enemy
I and shun temptation He also spoke
impressively of the marriage relations
and the indifference of parents as to
the kind of men their daughters mar
ried and the lack of home responsibil
ity in the spiritual training of their
children
Rev J A Hendry of the Methodist
church preached his farewell sermon
last night prior to leaving for confer
ence at Lake City December 10 He
referred to his relations to his parish
oners said that while he perhaps had
accomplished some good he had not
accomplished as much as he had hoped
for but had done the best he could
He seemed very much affected
Rev R A Forrest head of the
Christian Alliance movement in Flor
ida preached to a full house Sunday
morning and evening in the Baptist
church His published announcement
for his evening subject was Lots
Escape but changed it to church mir
acle the Loaves and Fishes show
ing how important it was for all
Christians to make a personal use of
their spiritual convictions by interced
ing with the worldly and bringing
them to Christ He knew that most
church members shrank from this du
ty but said it was theirs to perform
all the same He related how the
worldly could be reached by Christian
endeavor and gave his experience in
South Florida several years ago
where prior to his appearance the
cow boys of that section had taken
umbrage at a ministers efforts to
show the way and had riddled the
windows with bullets from their re
volvers and so conducted themselves
that the preacher was frightened
away In his case however they gave
him a respectful hearing were touch
ed and the first night fourteen of
these same cow boys came to the al
tar for prayer the second night all
but twenty of the congregation flock
ed around the altar and prayed for a
new life it came and now that com
munity believes in a personal Savior
and practice as they pray He also
spoke of a native of Chili who rode
500 miles to secure a copy of the Bi
