' Eastern Star's Gifts to Florida Boys The Eastern Star sewing circle, directed by Mrs. Lewis Yonce, the president, has completed and has ready. for shipment a box of knitted sweaters, mufflers and sweaters, their donation to the U. S. S. Florida. The material for these articles was donat ed by the sewing circle and the knit ting was done by the following ladies: Mrs. Lewis Yonce, Mrs. Fred Cook, Mrs. R. E. Yonge, Mrs. C. E. Dozier and chil dren at Daytona Beach, returned home yesterday afternoon after a short visit to friends in Jacksonville. .- Mrs. H. F. Watt and little daugh ter, Helen Coe, who were in Chatta nooga, Tenn., while Dr. Watt was at Fort Oglethorpe, have gone to Hot Springs for a several weeks visit. The Treasure and Trinket Fund gives all its money for the building of airships, and for the needs of the aviation corps. One lady yesterday gave a silver fountain pen that she has cher ished for forty years. Housewives, get busy and find those old rings and old spoons and drop them in the box at the Book Shop, thereby helping to build an airship for your country. . Washington announces that- the term "Sammies" applied to our troops is7 almost unknown in France, and is a misunderstood name. When our troops landed they were greeted by "Vivent les ames," meaning, "long live the (our) friends." The "les amis" sounded like "les Sammies" and the newspapers interpreted it as such. From that the American people began calling them "Sammies," but the French have not acquired the habit as yet. Miss Florence Dopier- and little brother Jack, who have been visiting their grandfather, Mr. LeonardDozier and other Ocala friends, will be ac companied home Friday by Master Dempsey Mayo, who will be Master Jack's guest for a week. Miss Beatrice Boney of Ocala, who has been on a visit to her father in Jacksonville, stopped in this city on her return and is the guest of Mrs. Helen Mallard and Miss Myrtle Thornton Gainesville Sun. . Earle Williams, the hero and vil lain in Arsene Lupin, the last great Vitagraph success at the Temple, stars today in "Apartment 29," with Ethel Terry and Billy Billings. Earle Williams takes the role of a famous dramatic critic. He witnesses the first performance of the town's latest show and pronounces it a failure because the events are too improbable and impossible. Helvenston and children, who have been visiting this summer in different places in North Carolina, are now pleasantly domiciled in Ashe ville and expect to return home next week. Miss Kathleen Jackson, was the winner of the dainty prizes at the Tuesday auction club yesterday aft ernoon. Miss Onie Chazal will enter tain the club next week. Little Misses Sarah and Lucy Johnson, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Johnson, who have been visiting their aunt in Frankfort for some months, have returned home. Palat ka Post. Miss Annie Sharpe, who has been visiting Mrs. McClymonds and other Ocala friends for several weeks, has returned to her home in Atlanta. Mr. H. J. Akins, who has been spending the past few days in Tampa, returned to his home in Ocala last night. Mr. Akins has a large number of friends here from whom he receiv ed a cordial welcome. Tampa Times.
