Uncle George Keller, of this county, who built the first residence in Leavenworth, and one of the best farmers in the world, brought us yesterday a lot of Peachblow potatoes, many of which weighed two pounds, of his own raising. He gets 200 bushels of them from an acre. They are the finest we ever saw, and if Doc. Keller can get as good delegates to the Convention as his father manages to raise potatoes, he will be nominated for Clerk without opposition. A Mr. Foster, of Connecticut, has built a steamboat, and suc cessfully operated it, which cuts up more didoes in the water than a skater on the ice going backwards or forwards without re versing the engine or stopping ill running, turning round on its own centre, traveling flat sideways, eta, and all by means of a wheel, winch is said to rotate at the stern, completely under water in some indiscrib able manner. The man at the wheel is the engineer as well as the pilot. The Govern ment is about to give the invention a fair trial. Yesterday we telegraphed to the Ameri can Central Insurance Company, of St. Louis to learn the loss sustained by them in the Chicago fire and prompty received the following answer.
