RELIEF CORPS MEETS
The Woman’s Relief Corps
met at the G.A.R. hall Friday
afternoon, Oct. 5 with 17 mem
bers present. Several members
came at 11 o’clock and did a
fine job of cleaning.

FHOPOSED AMENDMENT TO
THE CONSTITUTION OF OHIO
I’ropoxing to amend Meetion 7 of
artiele Ik of the constitution of
of the Mtate of Ohio relative to
probate courts.
He it resolved by the (General
Assembly of the State of Ohio,
three-fifths of fhe members of
each house concurring- therein,
That there shall be submitted to
the ejectors of the state, in the
manner prescribed by law, at the
general election to be held on the
tirst Tuesday- after the first Mon
day in November 1951, a proposi
tion to amend section 7 of article
IV oi the constitution of the state
of Ohio as follows:
ARTICLE IV
Sec. 7. There shall be established
in each county, a probate court,
which shall be a court of record,
open at all times, and holden by
one or more judges, as the gen
eral assembly may determine by
law, elected by the electors of
the county, who shall hold the
office for the term of six years,
and shall receive such compen
sation as shall be provided by
law. Whenever ten per centum of
the number of electors voting for
governor at« the next preceding
election in any county having
less than sixty thousand popula
tion as determined 1/,’ the next
preceding federal census, shall
petition the judge of the court
of common pleas of any such
county not less than ninety days
before any general election for
county officers, the judge of the
court of common pleas shall sub
mit to the electors of such coun
fiy the question of combining the
probate court with the court of
common pleas, and such courts
shall be combined and shall be
known as the court of common
pleas in case a majority of the
electors voting upon such ques
tion vote in favor of such com
nination. Notice of such election
shall be given in the same man
ner as for the election of county
officers. Elections may be had
in the same manner for the se
paration of such courts, when
once combined.
SCHEDULE
If a majority of the electors vot
ing on the foregoing proposed am
endment adopt the same it shall
become a part of the constitution
of the state of Ohio, and existing
section 7 of article IV of said
constitution shall thereupon be
repealed.
