Recent testa made at the State
Agricultural Experiment Station
in Wooster show, for example, that
outdoor clothesline drying takes
an average of 625 steps per load
of clothes!
That means—figuring four
washer loads for a week’s wash—
about 2500 steps a week, or around
130,000 steps each year!
The same tests show electric
clothes drying takes only a few
steps per load .of clothes from
washer to dryer.

Electric Dryer Beats Clothesline

to electric clothes drying, they find
The electric dryer cuts clothei
handling time more than 80 percent
And ironing time is slashed 75 pel
cent. Reason: many items from
the electric dryer can be folded
and put away without ironing
Further testing showed clothei
dried electrically stay white
longer, come out softer than clothes
dried in the weather.
And colored clothes dried elec
trically keep their colors, but fade
noticeably when dried on the line.
In testing the electric dryer
weather was naturally not a factor
So, the electric dryer tests took only
a few days. But because of rain
and cloudy days—the outdoor dry
ing tests took 151 days to complete)
