Mrs. Lyle Battles reported on an Home Economics meeting which she and Mrs. Freshley had attended at Mrs. James Blair’s in Burton. When the sub ject of a donation to the county hospital was discussed, Levi Hartong, an agent of the Grange Mutual Casulty Company, stated that ‘‘in behalf of this Company” he would give $30.00 for this cause toward a gift from the Chester Grange. This was grate fully accepted. There was a discussion in re gard to the grange booth at the fair. Announcement was made that Ruth Ann Hartong had been selected as Geauga County Princess at the state convention to be held at Col umbus in October. A picnic is being planned for next program for use health as the member is asked to the program. July 24. The July 10 will theme. Chester Grange Discusses “Average Family” many other familes who are going about the business of rear ing their families and taking their places in their commun ities without any publicity. ‘‘If there is an indication that there is something wrong with the average American family, it is shown in the behavior of many of the children and teen agers.” This brought about a discus sion in which every one present took part. Some suggestions were: that families did not have enough social life together, chil dren are not taught obligatons: alcoholism too much TV: fam ilies do not work together not enough time with children chil dren not taught to respect pro perty of others training respon sibility left to mothers econo mic conditions (keeping up with the Jonsesi. An article was read giving I statistics to prove that a large proportion of delinquent children come from homes where the I mother is working, also that many mothers are working not because of necessity. Mrs. Ralph Smith presented a program of guessing games. Refreshments were served by Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Petersen. Mrs. Nelson Pulsfier and Robert LaMoreaux. Charles Seu West Geauga Day Camp Monday, July 9, West Geauga day Camp will start and be in session each Monday, Wednes day and Friday through August 17 10:00 a m. to 3:00 p.m. This will be held at Williams Grove on Fairmount Rd., about one mile east of Route 306. Mrs. John Allen, camp director, and her staff of adult counselors, junior leaders, and volunteers will offer a variety of activities including swimming, crafts, games, creative dancing and dramatics, nature, camp craft, story telling and special events. Music for the dancing was by Charles Raysvis Orches tra. Two cakes were given away on cake walks. Mr. Hank Sen der and Mrs. Harry Brugge were winner. A Roto-Broil was won by Ed Kempf, a camera won by Mrs. Jean McConaly, and a spin reel by Mary Lorring. The dance was a big success.
