William Palssi, Chardon residents for the past 48 years, will be hon onored on their Golden Wed ding anniversary, Saturday, Dec. 30, from 2 to 5 p.m., with an open house given by their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Kaye at the Kaye home, 135 Goodrich Court. Saima and William Palssi were both born in Finland, he came to this country about 60 W4 f* A* Ro *. I .'1 .1 fl ^^H ’I. V HrI’* .. years ago and she arrived here about 52 years ago. They were married in Fitchburg. Mass., on Dec. 30, 1911. One of the proudest mom ents of their lives that they recall is when they became naturalized citizens of this country about 23 years ago. Mr. Palssi has always done gardening w o k in the area and for a short time worked as custodian at the school. Mrs. Palssi’s hobbies have been cooking, baking and knitting and during World War II she worked for a num ber of years as cook at Gen eral Electric Wire Works ir Cleveland. Mr. Palssi is now 72 years of age and Mrs. Palssi is 70. A head-on collision near Chardon in Geauga County Saturday afternoon injured 10 persons. Eight were hospital ized. The accident happened when cars driven by Mrs. Es ther Jane Loucks, 40, of 1311 E. 187th Street, and William Ely, 37, of 54 Ruckmere Dr., Painesville, crashed at the crest of a hill on Ohio 44, one mile north of Chardon. Mrs. Loucks suffered a com- Diana Henry Is Queen of De Molay The annual Rainbow De Molay Christmas Dance was held in the Park Street audit orium at 8:00 p.m. Dec. 16 Highlighting the evenings fes tivities was the crowning o the King and Queen. Diana Henry, a senior at Chard or High was crowned with the traditional rhinestone tiarra which proclaimed her Queen of the Ball. Joe Sykora o' Huntsburg was proclaimed King of the Ball upon accent ance of the silver sceptic. The King and Queen are selected by combined popular vote of the Rainbow Girls and De Molay Boys. Grove street, Middlefield, died instantly’ Wednesday afternoon when her car skidded head on into a large truck-trailer on Route 41 just south of Chardon. According to skid marks and the account of the truck driver, Mrs. Pelton slipped on the first curve south of Chardon at Chardon Lakes Golf course. Rimes Trucking is now under the leadership of Bill Rimes. Mrs. Eden’s brother, and is one of Geauga's most success ful commercial operations. The new’ modern, colonial type, fireproof building is now’ nearing completion at the Bass Lake Road hospital grounds and plans are under way to hold a special open house for Geauga County Cit izens.
