Two Additions to the Organization. Mayor Jones Cannot Speak In Akron Before Midsummer. Mayor Samuel Jones of Toledo, may address the citizens of Akron, but not before mid-summer. At the meeting: of the Central Labor union Thursday night a communication was received from him, in which he u Inch he made the above- announce ment. The organization committee re ported that the Core Makers of the city had been organized. Creden tial were received from the dele gates representing the Rubber Work ers Union. Two of the delegates were young ladies. This is the first time that women have been present as delegates. The Labor day committee an nounced that handsome souvenirs would be issued on that occasion. It is intended to eclipse all former cele brations this year. The secretary of the American Federation of Labor ha sent a list of all the available speakers for that day. A. Kaufman and .1. A. Wintiode were elected delegates to the Colum bus Labor convention. The Totters' union invited all union men to the picnic at Cat-cade park, New Cattle, Pa., June 5. DISAPPPOINTMENT In a Lave Affair Made Marks In sane. Frank M. Marks of "Wooster, who was found in a demented condition in Akron last Monday, will be taken to the Toledo hospital for the insane. Before he left Wooiter six weeks ago he acted queerly. It has Miice been learned that he wn. disap pointed in a love alfair. Died at Elyria. Miss M. Ella Wtidhains reuehed a telegram this morning; announcing the death of her brother, Geo. D. Wadhaius, at hi.s home in Elyria. Death was caused by appendicitis. Deceased was 44 years of age. was born in Boston township, this county and until recently had lived in Me dina. He was well known in Akron. He is survived by his wife; by Fred erick B. Wadhams, brother, of Cleve land; and Chas. and M.Ella, brother and sister, of Akron. Only last March, the mother of the deceased, resident ofAkrou, died. Wants Its Rights. The Peninsula council, at its last meeting, by a vote of 3 to 2, declined to grant a franchise to the Bell Tele phone company because the company would not agree to indemnify the village agaiust all damage incurred by building the line. The company wants to erect a line of poles Irom the State Road through Brandy wine, Boston and Peninsula to "West Rich field, a distance of 12 miles, and has obtained all the right of way except through Peninsula. ON THKSTAFF John Doran of this city lias been announced as a member of the stall of Captain J. M. Weier who is grand marshall of the parade to be given at Toledo in honor of delegates to the Commercial Travelers' convention. Akron. Boy Promoted. The Akron friends of Mr. J. Sher man Baldwin, sou of Capt. A. P. Baldwin, and former mill foreman of the Akron Iron & Steel Co.'s local plant, will be pleased to hear that he svas ironioted yesterday to the im portant position of superintendent of the Merchant mills department of the American Steel & "Wire com pany's immense business. This company is the large trust that was recently organized with a capital of more than $50,000,000. Mr. Baldwin's headquarters will be at Cleveland. PERSONALS. Mayor W. E. Young lias accepted in invitation to address the graduat ing class of the New Merlin High school at the approaching commence ment exercises. A very pretty wedding took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. John John "Widdersheim, 'MS East Voris St., on Thursday night at 8 o'clock. Mr. Leonard W. Crawford and Mits Susie M. "Widdersheim were the con tracting parties. Rev. J. W. King, of the Main st. Methodist church, performed the ceremony in the presence of the immediate relatives. George Shafer, of Johnstown, Pa., was lirst best man and Miss Lizzie Widdersheim, of the same city, was first bridesmaid. Wylie Crawford was second befct man and Miss Mag gie Widdersheim second bridesmaid. An ample wedding lunch was served ifter the congratulations. The pres ents were many and fine. Exercises Will Begin Sunday Con- tinuing Until Tuesday. i The program for the celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of "Rev. Father T. F. Mahar's ordination in j the priesthood ha. been given addi tional and finishing touches, and the exercises will be presented :i foi kvs: ; Sunday evening Commencing at 1 8 o'clock an entertainment will be ' given in the hall of the St. Vincent .parochial school by the children. Although the exercises are primarily intended to convey from the children an expression of attachment to Dr. Mahar, the general public will be admitted. Monday Evening Reception to be tendered by the members of the church congregation, enactment of the program to begin at 8 o'clock. Addresses will be made by members representing different sections of the parish. A musical program of a very high order, to be given by dis tinguished local talent and artists from abroad, will follow. Tuesday morning Commencing at 9:80, the religious ceremonies proper will be conducted, with the bishop, Bight Bev. Ignatius F. Horstmann, of Cleveland, in attendance. The officiants of the mass will be Bev. T. F. Mahar as celebrant; Re.v. T. M. Smyth of East Liverpool, deacon, and Rev. C. V. Che vraux of Fremont sub-deacon. Bev. J. F. Kueble of Massillon will be master of cere monies. The sermon will be preach ed by Bev. Win. McMahan of Cleve land". Preparations for the music of the mass has been in progress for some time, and will undoubtedly he very fine. The orchestral accompani ment will be Jjambilotte's Paschal mass in DA large number of the clergy of the diocese will be present at the mass. Many of them may al so be present at the reception Mon day evening. After the morning services Tues day a reception and banquet will bo given the visiting clergy.
