Boyden, in honor of Miss Carrie Bv Ainsworth, whose marriage to Mr. Elmer Clark of Cleveland, is tb be celebrated the following week, on Oct 11. Mrs. Charles Prank entertained the ladies of the "Dinner Card club" Monday evening. Miss Blah Jenne entertained the Ludine club Tuesday evening at her home in Litchfield. The wedding of Miss Alice Best to Dr. Asa Dean of Lodi, is announced for October 9. Mr. C. B. Lowe's Sunday School class of the Congregational church served a supper at the church on Wednesday evening, for the members who canvassed that day for next year's budget. New quarters for the local Boy Scouts have been secured on the third floor of the Medina County National Bank building. The Young Ladies' Benevolent society of the Congregational church held a picnic supper Monday evening at the home of the Misses Evalyn and Florence Thatcher. Mrs. Edmund Deibel of Roston, who is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Anderson, entertained the G. L. C. club Monday evening. The choir members of St. Paul's church enjoyed a picnic supper last evening at the parish house. Mrs. Walter Clark entertained Mrs. W. R. Koons' class of the L. B. S. of the Congregational church Wed nesday afternoon. The condition of Mr. Geo. High, who underwent an operation at Woos ter hospital last week Thursday morn ing, is reported as much improved.and it is thought he will be able to return home soon. There will be an all day's meeting of the Ladies' Aid of the Church of Christ next Thursday in the church parlors. The annual business meeting and election of officers of the Congrega tional church will be held at the church parlors next 'Monday, Oct 4. An automobile belonging to Will Rogers of Medina was stolen Satur day night from in front of the Em pire theatre, in Cleveland. The car is an Overland five-passenger, Ohio license number 96849. It was driven to Cleveland by W. E. Hemmeter.who found it missing when he got ready to come home. ' Examination by a specialist last week of their son, Robert, 9, brought the sorrowful intelligence to Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Eddy of 443 East Friend shin Street, that the lad had per manently lost the sight of his right eye. The boy was injured in tne eye last spring by a piece of a dish, since which time until the recent visit to the specialist, slight hope had been held out by the parents tnat tne arresi ed vision of their son might be restor ed. Mrs.Nettie Burdoin of Orrville.O., sister-in-law of J.W. Seymour of Me dina, and well-known here, died last Thursday, at the age of 65. Of her immediate family there survive one daughter, Mrs. Ruth King of Orrville, and one son Arthur of Rittman. Mr. and Mrs. Seymour attended the fun eral, which was held at the late home on Sunday. A large crowd attended the Com munity concert in the park last Sun day afternoon. The orchestra ex pects to give at least one more open air concert this season. The Child Conservation League will meet with Mrs. Roy Kimmel on Monday, Oct. 4 ,at the Community club grounds. Machines will be at the library building at 2:30 p. m. for mem bers. Mrs. Cari Phelps was removed from the home of John Arbogast to a Cleveland hospital on Monday, suffer in gfrom a severe attack of typhoid fever. A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arbogast is reported ill of the same disease. The young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Spahr is ill of diphtheria, her condition being reported as im proving. The condition of County Treasur er E. W. Moyer, who was stricken with paralysis last week ,is much improv ed, and it is believed he will be able to be out soon. , Clerks of the Ziegler store enjoy ed a picnic supper Thursday evening at the home of Miss Kate DeArmon, in honor of the latter who leaves next week for Ashland. Ms. and Mrs. R.' 0. Wheeler are spending the week in Akron. Rev. J. C. B. Stivers of the Cleve land Christian orphanage will preach next Sunday at the Church of Christ, both morning and evening. A jug of raisin-jack was respon sible for the arrest Tuesday night of Geo. Popa and Jos. Zamcue. Cleve land Hungarians, whom Sheriff Bige- low took Irom a band ot 65 foreiamers encamped near the farm of Orlando Branch on the Half-acre road in York township. The hearing of the two men was to have been held Thursday. The community orchestra will ve a concert on Saturday night in e band stand, weather permitting. ihe woman's Kelief Corps will hold their regular monthly meeting, Wednesday, Oct 6, at the L O. 0. F. hall, with a picnic dinner to which the Or. A. R. and families are cordially in vited. All members of the Corps are especially urged to be present as im portant business is to be presented. Members of Courtney Lawrence Post, American Lesion, are contem plating holding a street fair this fall, and had a meeting Thursday night at the town hall for the purpose of dis cussing plans. The Medina County Ministerial association wHl meet on Monday, Oct. 4, in the Baptist church, Medina, at 10 o'clock and Rev. A. Irwin of the Baptist church will give an address. All ministers of the county are ex pected to be present. The Coterie club will hold its first meeting of the season next Tuesday, Oct. 5, at the home of Mrs. O. A. B CONDITION STILL SERIOUS Dan Galloway, who was seriously injured on Sunday morning, Sept. 19, when a Wheeling & Lake Erie train ran into a herd of cows he was driv ing, one of the animals being hurled violently against him, is still in a serious condition at Lodi hospital, it is reported, his mind bewildered to such an extent that he remembers little if any about the accident. Gal loway was employed by Clyde Steele as a farm hand, in Westfield town ship, where the accident occurred. NEW BATHROOM, ETC. The County Commissioners have authorized the installation of a hew bathroom and closet in the women's department of the county jail. The action was taken at the regular meet ing of the board on Monday. ROYS' ANn aiRI.S' C.I.IIR WORK AT COUNTY FAIR The Boys' and Girls' club exhibit at the county fair was largely a Liver pool township affair, as most of the ex hibitors were from that township. Con siderable interest has been taken by ,the young people in that section and their work has been a credit to the sec , tion. The Girls' club work was represent ed bjf groups in both food and cloth ing work. Ruth Montgomery of Hinck ley won the third year food club , prize of $10, while Leah Pohzehl of Valley City won the second year food club prize of $10, and Cleo Miller of 1 Seville won second. The first year food club work was won by Rachel Pohzehl of Valley City, second prize by Evelyn Wideman, Medina, and the third to Charlotte Hoppe of Valley City. The prizes in this class were: first ,-rip to Columbus; seconds $7; third, $4. In the Clothing club, Leah Pohzehl won first and the trip t o Columbus, Rachel Pohzehl won second, $6, and Charlotte Hoppe won third, $4. These girls represented the county in the state fair in August. They were sent by the State Fair Board and the Coun ty Farm Bureau jointly. ' I The boys in the pig contest Tajvided the honors as follows: Willard Wolfe, Valley City, won the trip; Rhubert Otterbacher, Valley City, won second, $7; Oliver Otterbacher won third, $4, and Ellis Betzer of Granger won fourth, $3. The best exhibit was made by Ellis Betzer, but he was plac ed fourth on account of the high cost of t he gains made by his pig. Each 1 of these boys will start a pure bred swine herd from animals exhibited at j the fair. It is hoped that they may supply other boys with pure bred ani-1 mals next season. The poultry contest was won by Geo. Reutter of Valley City. This also carries atrip to Columbus as the prize, second was wonby Henry Wolf, and third by William Pohzehl. These boys are also from Liverpool township. PLANS LAID FOR "Y" WORK IN COUNTY At tie October meeting of the Me dina county committee pf the Young Men's Christian association, which is to be held at the Taylor Inn, Lodi, on Oct. 4, definite plans and programs are to be adapted tor the year s work. The September meeting was held at Ye Tavern, LeRoy, where prospective plans were gone over and a suggestive budget discussed. At the October meet ing a budget will be adopted and def inite group promotion arranged. It is expected that Y. M. C. A. groups will be under way in Medina, Lodi, Seville, LeRoy, Granger, Mallet Creek, Litchfield, and possibly Lafay ette and Sharon Center before the end of October. I The new Christian Citizenship Training program recently gotten out jointly by the Sunday school and the Y, M. C. A. in conference with the Boy Scouts of America, the Woodcraft i League, and the Federation of Boys' Clubs of America, has been indorsed for Medina county. It opens up a j wealth of activity on all phases of boy life to any Y. M. C. A. group, organ ized classes in Sunday school, or any other group of boys with an adult leader. The county Y. M. C.
