Haulk attended the funeral of Mr. Haulk'B father at Homerville last Tuesday. Rev. II. D. Sheldon went to Oberlin today to attend the Medina conference of the Congregational church. Mrs. A. E. Kilborn, of Spencer was the gueBt of Mrs. II. C. Harris during the church anniversary last week. John Timmons and wife of Hartland were in town Saturday, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. Chandler, West Main Street. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Seeley, of Cleveland were in town over Sunday, the guests of Mrs. McCord of Kelley street. C. M. Spitzer, of Toledo was in town Tuesday. He is thought to have pur chased a very fine horse of 0. P. Chap man while here. Mr. Hoffman, of Ft. Wayne, one of the recent purchasers of the saw mill has been here for some days looking after his interests. Miss May Haskell, who has been the guest of Miss Feme Smith, returned to her home in Wellington, Tuesday. Van Wert Republican. Mrs. Provine, Mrs. Ingersoll, Mrs. Wm. Hundley, Miss Mae Clark and Frank Richmond visited Huntington friends last week Sunday. Mrs. Alice Battle has moved into a few looms of Mrs. P. A. Emerson's residence, while Mrs. Emerson goes back and forth to her farm in Spencer, to which she is devoting her personal attention this year. W. F. Crosier, late of Company K, Fifth Ohio regiment, is at home. He was mustered out of service with the regiment last November, but was soon taken sick and has been in the hospital & good deal of tho time since. We are pleased to note the fact that Geo. Metzger, so long with J. S. Mal lory & Co. is to be retained by the present management of the Taylor Store. Let no good and efficient man go out of town for employment. There is absolutely no truth in this report. I have not now, and never had any sympathy with the men who attempted to defeat the nom inee of the republican party of Ohio fur United States Senator.' I believe in McKinley ; I desire the "success of his present administration and to see him re-nominated and re-elected for another term in 1900. Whatever shall be the result of this canvas, I Bhall continue to work and vote for the success of the republican party and all its nominees.
