The book of the General Presbyterian Council, just issued in Philadelphia, gives the number of the Presbyterians in the world at about 3,000,000 communicants and about 13,000,000 adherents to g the several Presbyterian bodies. Paul, the Republican candidate) for Board of Public Works, will be slaught ered in Cincinnati, on account of his ac tion in giving away the berme bank of the Miami canal to an Elevated Railroad Company. He will lose hundreds and thousands of votes in consequence. At the Methodist District Conference last week held at Bryan, Dr. Bool, in a lecture before the body stated that Fos ter, in a recent conversation with him, did say "that Hie Methodist preacliers of this State viust be snubbed." Thus the as sertion comes from a reliable source, and places Calico Charly in such a position that no conscientious lover of the Meth odist Church can support him. The Greenbackers nominated the fol lowing State Ticket at their convention last week: Governor John Seitz, of Seneca coun ty. Lieutenant Governor Charles Jenkins, of Mahoning. Judge of Supreme Court Joseph Wat son, of Knox. ' Attorney General G. A. Tuttle, of Lake. Treasurer of State William F. Lloyd, of Montgomery. , . Member of Board of Public Works H. L. He died at hia lome in Wau pakooetta on last Sabbath, in the 41st year of hi age, leaving wife and fami ly. The lit, Vernon Banner favors the Hon. Geo. W. Gedde as the Democratic candidate for Governor. Mr. Geddes in favorably known all over the State, and he is now Congressman from the Rich land District, aud his name but adds another to the long list of probable can didates;' all of tbem good men, any one of whom would head the ticket with credit. The Republican State CentralCommit tee met at Columbus on the 16th and elected the following Executive commit tee: George K. Nash, Jacob C. Donald son, T. Ewing Miller, John F. Oglevee, E. L. Taylor, 8. K. Watson and Alexis Cope, and this committee organized by electing George K. Nash chairman and J. C. Donaldson secretary. The friends of Mr. John Crowe, of De fiance, intend presenting his name to the Democratic State Convention as a candi date for Member Board of Public Works. Although not personally acquainted with Mr. Crowe, he has a reputation in this part of the State as one having all the re quirements for making an excellent member of the Board of Public Works. Should this nomination fall to the North west, and Mr. Crowe be the nominee, it will add to the strength of the ticket in a way that will be materially felt in the October election. Let us all Crow(e). Clerk Adams of the House of Repre sentatives, has placed on the roll of the next House, the name of Cannon, the Mormon delegate. Campbell, the "Gen tile" delegate, had the Governor's certi ficate, but Cannon presented a certificate of the U. S. Court at Salt Lake City, showing he had 8,000 majority. The Clerk, after taking legal advice, decided in Cannon's favor, and he draws the sal ary. Campbell can contest. The decis ion secures substantial justice. The giv ing of a certificate to Campbell by Gov. Murry was a monstrous act of injustice and usurpation. This is no way to com bat Morn.anism. Our cranky old neighbor up-the-street was down on all fours last week, slinging mud right and left. The Democracy generally, and the editor of the North west especially, seemed to be favorite targetB for his mud-balls, with here and there a dab at tho Stalwart Republicans, Fouka is subject to these dirtyJfHs, and whenever hey come on one may know that there is perfect harmony(f) in the Republican ranks, such as the Conkling harmony in New York, and the Foster harmony in Ohio, and the Republican-Repudiation-Mahone harmony in Vir ginia. Bingham, who is now serv ing his second term as Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in the Coulumbus dit trict, has, at the solicitation of a number of tho members of the bar throughout the State, consented to become a candidate for Judge of the Supreme Court, and his friends will ardently press his claims bo fore the July Convention. The nomina tion could not be given to a more worthy gentleman, and in view of his legal at tainments, his long experience on the bench, his known ability as a jurist, his studious habits, and his integrity of character, there are none who will ques tion his fitness for the nomination, or doubt that his name will give strength to the ticket. 'i What is more beautiful than the nim pie, guileless faith of a little child? The other Sunday a certain maiden of ten der years was overheard by her mother, singing in tones both loud and swect.and with a vigor boru of a pair of lungs in. magnificent working order, that charming balled, 'Whoa Emma!' Instantly flashed into the mind of the mother, 'What will the neighbors say when they hear my child singing that horrid heathen song'r' So, quickly calling the little one to her, she said,' My darling, it is Sunday, and it is naughty to sing ' vVhoa, Emmal' to-day. Can't you sing something else?'; 'Yes, mamma! I'll change the words,' and once more the tuneful voice rang out wjfctt the air the same, but the words changed to 'Whoa, Jesus!' Danger lurks in these symptoms, as they arise from impure blood or diseased or gans. Medical advice is expensive and often unsatisfactory.
