There must be some concection be tween the Mayor's Office and a CI thing Store ; though we do not understand the reason why, unless it is because when a man is well clothed, he is protected from the weather ; and when after violating some ordinance, be h locked up in jail, that he is safe from the weather also. Or else, it may be because when a man is found drunk, add shut up to get sober, he sometimes clothes himself and the Mayor wi,h curses, like a garment But it is a fact at all events, that our Mayor, as one of the firm of Nichols & Weir, has just opened a new Clothing Store, - where they offer all kinds of Clothing, Hats, Caps tc ; and our Ex-Mayor J. Dear Sr : I am the Mail Contract or from this place to Salt Lake City. In the month of November last, I had in my employment a young man, by the name of James Wheeler. I am inform ed that his parents ived in your town. He, with two others, was killed by the Sioux Indians, last November, on the plains. My object in writing you, is to find out his father's address, so that I can have his clothing, watch and money sent to him. He had eighty dollars de posited in this town. I expect, on a set tlement of his account with me there will be due him about SI 00. . He had a brother by the name of Frederick. I wish you would get me the information desired, as I think his pa rents should have bis property. Yours repectfullv, W. M. F. MAGRAW. Distressing Accident and Death. A number of lads were gathering Chestnuts, when Thomas Wick, step-son of Jesse Thorn ton, Esq., fell from a fee, and was so much injured that be dieu this morning. Thomas was a manly, intelligent lad, of about twelve years of age, and his untimely death will cast a gloom over the community. To hi heart stricken Mother and farai'y we lender our sincere sympathy.
