The Latest Achievements
In Spring Hats
Women who demand graceful lines coupled with fashions newest tints
which add the ardently desired individualistic touch will ho more than pleased
with these new models in cellophane faille silk taffeta satin and straw
Among the modes for spring you will find the perennially popular sailors
but prettier than ever with their unique flower and ribbon trims The vogtio
of the away-from-the-face models is enhanced through the medium of ever so
brightly colored flowers and beads which adorn the front of many of the hats
and lend an- added charm of piquancy to the face 4
Bight up to the minute are the effective and unusual hats with georgette
brims surmounted by crowns of flowers rich and new with the most desired
spring color harmonies Many of the lustrous rich surfaces afford ideal back
grounds for novel treatment and one highly pleasing effect has been achieved
with a trim of gaily colored fruits
This very complete showing of spring hats also presents tailored models
in a wide range of styles
They have all been moderately priced from 500 to 2250

Most every woman knows that torchon is a coarse scalloped lace made of
stout and rather soft and loosely twisted thread and used for curtains pillow
cases such as one sees in the majority of well kept homes Torchon is machine
made but almost any pattern of handmade lace may be made by machinery
each pattern depending on the variations that may be given to movements of
flat disc like bobins which carry the threads

They1 are 18 inches in width these new ones and in iridescent showings
of rose Nile tan and black patterns woven in gold and silver threads as -well

CUPIDS OWN DAY
Fourteenth o February Belongs
to Him Alone
Anniversary Brightens the Drab Month
With Memories of the Past and
Joy of the Present
Brightening the dull drab month of
February and doing their very best
to cheer up and brjng love into our
hearts the valentines the valentines
smile at us with their Ince
liabilities from the shop win
dows
There are elaborate millionaire
Valentines of celluloid nnil blue ribbons
that come In big lace boxes like
French dolls theie are valentlnes that
when pulled out like an accordion be
come Cinderella conches of cardboard
Inden with Loves and Venuses and
Cupids Others resolve themselves in-
to airy palaces you
never know peopled with delightful
goddesses and doves
But the best uiid most slaccre per
Imps are the old fashioned valentines
vistas of foamy paper lace through
which you look upon hearts redder
thnn lovers lips In a prospect of vio
lets and And hidden
awny like n billet doux In a bouquet
n little verse
This heart sweet love 1 send to you
ToKether with these violets blue
And It you like this heart of mine
I pray you be my valentine
Could anything be more simple or
direct to the point As unerringly as
Cupids darts or a beaus rapier the
orse carries Its rocsage home It
may be that the Elizabethan lyrics
the love sonps of Hcrrlck and Love
loce and Suckling survive today only
la the valentine
And ah what memories these har
bingers of love bring with them I They
lead us hack along the columbine
bordered road to jesterday ocr the
asphodel meadows of Youth and First
Love and Childhood Fancies and we
meet nnd kiss our first sweethearts
again alas they have gone out of
our lives these many yeais
And sodenrllttle Valentine accept
these violets and and
hug this message close to your heart
for surely a sweetheart is the sweeter
for a valentine and as all wise men
know tis love that makes the world
go round
GOOD OLD SAINT IN TROUBLE
Embarrassed by ShoweP of Hearts
Thouah It Would Seem Ho
Should Be Used to It
St Valentine slyly
Put up his umbrella
ThU shower of hearts
Would embarrass a fellow
Im clod that I manage it
Once In a year
Exercise la the thins
Hearts are needing I fear
While many are beating
Theyre all out of tune
And cold as December
Instead of warm June
So Ill mix em and change em
And warm em up too
I wonder If hell nx
