(!AI)IZ, OHIO: WEDXESIMY MOHX1.YO, OCT. 3D, l?lt. To the lUcuiocrattc voters of HARRISON COUNTY. On Friday the 1st of November, the question will be decided, whether the rotate of Oiiio will cast her 23 Electo ral votes for Jaju-s K. Folk or IIkx ry Clay. The majority lor Morde cai Hartley over David Tod is only a fraction over IGlX) votes. The federal party polled a larger vote II r Gover nor than they possibly can for Presi dent in Ohio. Tlcnry Clay, with all his political heresies and immoralities, never was and never will be popu lar in Ohio. Let the Democrats but cast the same vote on next Friday they did at tliCjCovoriior's Election, and we will carry tho state. But, fellow democrats VVE MUST DO MOKE WE MUST INCREASE THAT VOTE. In many counties in the state owing to division;'? in our ranks, our vote was unusually small. This will not be the case on Friday. In Ham ilton county the democrats pledge ihein sclvos to increase the vote 500. Old Richland promises to give Polk 2500 majority, andjshe can do it. Stark will increase her majority some 300 at least; and the Columbiana boys promise to do the same. In other coun ties, where local ditlicultics existed in tho democratic ranks, so as to prevent a full turn out, wo shall have a largely increased votcRtit independent of these change:?, which may be safely cal culated upon in favor of James K. Polk wc believe each county in tho state will claim the honor of increasing their Democratic vote. ONE VOTE IN EACH TOWNSHIP of an increase will give the State tho Democracy. Cannot our friends exert jhetiuelve j on Friday, and see that Jlotf a Democratic votes' remains at home. Have committees appointed who will attend to this mat ter. Let conveyances be sent after the sick and tho aged, and have them ta ken back to their houses a sain. Com mittees should be appointed in each township to REMAIN AT THE POLLS all day, and distribute the Democratic Electoral Tickets, and see that tho Roorback Federal coons do not im pose Fraudulent Tickets upon democrats. Democrats idiouL also stay at the windows to challengo the rote of every person, whose right to vote is questionable. At the state . ni . . i r i i Election me leuerai inspectors recei ved the votes of minors in many town . ships, withouta full investigation of their qualifications as electors. And we arc just informed that in ono township the federal judgC3 would receive tho bal lots of democratic voters, and after they had left the polls, would throw the tho ballot under the table, instead o; depositing them, in the box, under the pretext that the persons offering to vote were not legally qualified' Under our election law, such conduct would scik the judges to the penitentiary ; and wc are sorry wc did not learn their names as we would certainly publish them to tho world, A man's right to vote must he decided when he offers his bal lot, when he can face the judges, and bring forward witnesses to prove his qualifications, and not after he has left tho place ot voting. There is-no time to loose and every democrat must consider him self as a committee of vigilance from this until Friday evening. It may be that tho Electoral vote of Ohio will make tho President. Now, isn't that rather too hard a lie to be swallowed by any man of common sense? We care not what course the abolitionists as a parly take; but as a public journalist, opposed is we are, to nil manner of trickery and decep-j lion wo are determined that even the abolitionists hall not be imposed upon. Mr. Birncy has, in two different letteis addressed to the Editois of ilia Now York Tribune, denied, iu the most un equivocal manner, that he has any connexion with the Democratic party; and wo have i?ot a doubt, but that ho will nail to the counter the latest Roorbnck s'.oiy in regard to his favoring the an nexaiion of Texas. The j 1 federal papers are publishing while-washing cer tificates of Henry ('lay's moral character from the Rev. Mr. Biscom and tho Rev. Alexander Campbell, tvhich prove just nothing at all! Mr. Campbell states that Henry Clay prosified as Moderator, in the debate bet wee u himself and the Rev. Mr. Rice, and that he has seen l)iin in Church, and therefore he comes to the very sage conclusion that because Henry Clay did not play "cards while sitting as moderator, or utter profane language iu the house of God, he must be a mor al and upright man! Mr. Campbell says further if Henry Clay is an immoral and profane man, it should not operate against him in the minds of christians, as all our Presidents have been pro fane men! Oh, what an argument, for a Preach er of the Gospel to use! Tho clergyman who would certify that Henry Clay is free from immor ality, profanity and licentiousness, is unquestion ably in full favor with the Devil! Oh, what a fearly account he will have to render at the Great Day. But to the letter of the Rev. Hugh For syth: . norlKt k in H.-irrisoii otisity. Wc must once again, and for the last lime, cau tion the Democracy of Harrison county, against tho lies and frauds and forgeries, which arc cir culated by tho Roorback coons of Cadiz, with tho most unblushing ellVontoiy. It astonislrcs us that men who wish to preserve a reputation for hon esty and veracity, could be guilty of telling lies of the most deep and damning character against James K. Polk, for the purpose of deceiving hon est but unsuspecting persons. We are now told that the same legal gentleman, who, with sancti monious sincerity, told the citizens of Monroe and Franklin townships, that if they voted the Democratic county ticket, their famw would be taken fion them, has been circulating tho lie far and near that if James K. Polk iH elected there will bo a war between the United States and Mexico, and that cveiy young man in Hani son county, who is able to bear arms, will be en listed!!!!! This INFAMOUS LIE is only equal to that circulated in 1810, that Mr. Van Buron was going to establish 11 STANDING ARMY, and that men would have to march fion Ohio to New Jersey topeifonn military duty! The man who would circulato such lies us the above, must helievo that tho people arc as great fools us him self is kuave! We wonder that he is not afraid that heaven's judgments will overtake him, and strike him dead, while the black and horrible lies ire coming from his polluted lips. Faiuview, Guernsey co O, July 2, IS 14. Dear Friend: Yoiue of June ult. came duly to hand. You wish me to write you the particu lars of my late boat voyage, so far as they relate to the Hon. H. Clay. 1 have 110 hesitation iu do ing so, inasmuch as it is important that every persons should know the character of the persons who are candidates for the highest office in the gift of the American people. Oi Thurs day evening 10 of May last, took a passage for Cincinnati, aboard "the Little Pilot," then at Wheeling. Henry Clay was aboard the same boat, and traveled with us from Wheeling to Maysville, Ky. I had of course, a fair opportu nity to hear him converse, and witness his demeanor. And must say that I saw and heard things with which I was much disgusted. On the evening of the 17 he engaged in a conversa tion with a gentleman and lady on the subject of Slavery. In this conversation he made use of profane language, Some of his interrogatories lie commenced in the following way: What the )t'ril,Sfc. But that was not the worst. I heaid him d'stiuclly confnm one of his assertions with tho oath 'by G d.' Two or three persons on the boat told me that they heaid him make use of this oath two or three times during the con versation. 1 heard him but once. 1 did not hovevcr, hear all. of the conversation. 1 heard u vulgar expression drop fiom his lips, which as tonished me, inasmach as there were peihaps a dozen respectable looking ladies, (and 1 know some of them were respectable) listened atten tively to the conversation. The gentleman who was convcrsmg with Mr. Clay, h id occasion to make use of the term manhood, when speaking 0! the slaves. Mr. Clay iillcrwartls lemaikcil 111 substance as follows: "1 do not know what you mean by the term manhood, when you apply it to the slaves. But sir, the slaves have their man hood, 11s properly as we have, and I do not know but Ihev have a little more manhood than we have. They cm cut more, and work more, and get more childicn than any of you." The last clause I noticed very d:stinctly. So much for what I heard. I saw one or two things 1 did not bke. Mr. Clay was accompanied by a son of his a young man who appeared to be about twenty years of ago. He may havo been older, but he did not appear so. This young man played at cards a large portion of his time on Friday, while his father looked on, and appeared to be interes ted in the game. These things 1 saw and heard and they convinced me that Mr. Clay has been a very immoral man, and that though his head is now blossoming for the grave he retains many, if not all of his old wicked habits. Iu 1H40 1 voted the whig ticket. Anl urn yet inclined to favor whig measures and principles. But Henry Clay is loo bitter a pill for mo to swallow. Very respectfully vours, . HUGH FORSYTH. Rev. S. WILL HENRY CLAY Receive Use ESc:orsI vole f OSiio! Mr. B.utlcy is a somewhat prominent member of the Methodist church, and has a son-in-law who is rather a pop ular preacher in that church; therefore a great number of democratic Methodists cast their voles in fivor of Air. Hartley, who cannot bo induced to suction the flagitious immoralities of Henry Clay, by casting their votes in favor ofthat "v;i bodimciitn oi Whig principles, British predilec tions, moral terpilude, and political chicanery. Again it is understood, that Air. Bartley's views on the subject of slavery preponderate in favor of abolitionism, therefore ho leceived a strong sup port fruin the liberty parly and to these fortuit ous circumstances is Mr. Bartley indebted for his election neither of which can, by any possi bility, bo brought in to aid the election ofcll. Clay. Nay more, no conscientious or really mor al man, can cast his vote iu favor of an individu al whose flagitious iniquities arc as notorious as the sun at noon-day--and although J, K, Polk may receive but slight support from the Lbcily party, yet it is impossible that any honest aboli tionist, or really pious man can cast his vote in favor of II. Clay's aboli tion inklings and the pieposletous certificates of his supple, clerical and political charms, as to the good moral character of their patron and boon companion, to tho contrary notwithstan ding. Hence, every intelligent man in this state must feel perfectly confident, that Ohio will go for Poi,k and Dallas by a largo majority. And that they will be elected by triumphant majori ties there cannot remain a doubt, Note. The clergyman who would certify to the good moral character of II. If wo were as grave as a Stoic, we would oc casionally bo tempted to shake our sides as hard with irresistible laughter, as ever did Sir Jack Fallstafl', in reading the Federal newspapers of the day. The cdiiors of these sheets must ci ther be criminally ignorant or villainously cor rupt, or else they would not impose such abomi nable trash upon community, that finds a place into the columns of their varlet hebdomidals. A little obscure and fibhy Federal sheet, pun ished iu this place, by a fellow, whose only claim to notoriety is his deplorable ignorance, unblushing impudence, lunatic, craziness, and villainous rascality, is filled week after week with the silliest, weakest and most puerile arti cles that ever came from the pen of a rational or thinking being, in regard to "British Gold." The jackass who contributes articles to that sheet, which are published as editorial, has as sorted and undertaken to prove that the British Manufacturers have sent over gold to this coun try, for the purpose of having printed and circu ited Free Trade Tracts, to break down tho present tariff. Who in this community who in tho Slate of Ohio- who in the broad Union has re ceived an ounce of "British Gild," unless ho was a Federal coon, to pay for his services in opposing the annexation of Texas, or writing essays favorable to Assumption of the Slate Debts? Who? Who is he? Where is he? Who has ever received any of these " Freo Trade Tracts?"
