The followiner we have just teceived from Messrs. Jos
lin i&, tiowe, Diuggists, in Newaik, in this State, to
whom it was communicated by John Wimei, Esq., a
citizen of Burlington, Licking county. Ohio.
Buklinuton, Licking Co.,0., Dec. 1, 1843.
Messrs. Joslin & liowe: At your rcqucBl I herewith
transmit to you a statement of the ense of Mrs. Wimer
and child, as near as I am able to communicate which
you aie at liberty to publish if you see fit, as I feel a
desire to inform the woild of the effects of the invalu
able medicine called Wistar's Balsam of Wild Cherry,
to w hich, by the divine blessing, I am indebted for the
restoration to health ol my wife nnd child.
About live years ago Mrs. Wimer was attacked
with a violent cough, pain in the chest and side, and
symptoms of approaching consumption. During tht
intervals from that time to sometime in Feb. last, she
had been treated by eminent Physicians from Utica,
Sylvania, Homer, Chatham, and Newark, and with
only partial relief of the most urgent symptoms. A
bout one year ago she caught a violent cold, which
seated upon the Eungs, producing an alarming aggra
vation of all her previous symptoms. Her Physician
was sent lor, und uespitu Ins best etlorts, she Degnn
rapidly to sink under her disease. Cough, Expectora
tion, Hectic, together with night sweats, soon reduced
her to a complete skeleton. In Feb. last, her attend
ing Physician, deemed her case altogether hopeless, a
council was called und after deliberating upon her
case, unanimously pronounced her to be beyond th
reach of means, aud expressed their opinion that she
could survive but a short time, one or two weeks at far
thest, She was at this time entirely confined to her
bed, and scarcely able to articulate, except in a whis
per. Her daily paroxysms of coughing would Inst her
interruptedly from three to live hours, and so severe
were they, "that we did expect that every paroxysm
would he tho last. The Physicians in council, pro
nounced her Lungs, Liver, Kidneys, Spine, snd Mu
cus, Membrane of the Stoniach to be incurably dis
eased. It was at this last extremity that we happened
to obtain a pamphlet describing Dr. Wistar's Balsam of
Wild Cherry, as applicable to Lung affections. We
immediately sent to you and procured a bottle, and
commenced its use at evening by giving hor one tea
spoonful, and such was the surprising effect, that she
was able to pass a comfortable night's rest, without ex
periencing any paroxysm of coughing, and such was
Us ultimate effect, that after taking 5 bottles she was,
contrary to the expectations of her physicians, and eve
ry one who saw her, entirely restoied to health; nnd
since last summer has done the entire work of her fam
ily. After the last attack of Mrs. Wimer, our young
est child, then un infant at the breast, was takendown
with the same symptoms as its

The ease of Thomas Cozens is related bv himself at
follows, and acknowledged hy all who know him as
one of the most usloiiishiug cures ever performed.
H.innoNFjKi.i), N. J., April 20, 1843.
On or about the Hill day of Dec.IStl, I was taken
with n violent pain in the sitlo near the Liver winch con
tinued for about five days, und was followed by ths
liietiking of on ulcer, or something inwardly, which
relieved the pain a little, but caused me to throw up a.
great quantity of ofiensive matter and also much blood.
Heinggteatly alarmed at this. 1 applied to a physician,
but he said he thought he could do hut little for mo ex
cept give me some Mercury Puis, which I refused to
take, leeiiiigsatitlied they could do me no good; many
other term-dies were then procured by my wife and
friends, und nunc did me any good, and the discharge
of blood and corruption still continued every few days
anil at last became so offensive I could scarcoly breath.
I was also seized with a violent couth, which at limes
caused me to raise much more blood than 1 had done
before, and my disease continued in this way, still grow
ing worse until Feb. wren all hope of my recovery was
given up, and my friends ull thought I would die with
a gallopim- consumption. At tins moment, when my
life was apparently drawing near ut a close, I heard of
Dr. Wistai's Balsam of Wild Cherry, and got a bottle,
which relieved inc immediately, and by the use of only
thiee bottles of this medicine, nil my pains were remo
ved, my cough and spitting of blood und corruption en
tirely stopped, and in a few weeks my health was os
far restored as to enable me to woik at my trnde,
(which is a Carpentei) and up to this time I buvc enjoy
ed good health.
