The tryouts fielded pretty and puled together. Malea and Williams both pitched excellent ball letting the pirates down with three hits. The city council met last night in regular session. The usual list of bill was allowed. . The report on alley 'from Walnut to Elm street between Seventh and Eighth was presented, awarding dam ages to the several owners of one cent each was on motion received and approved. . ; The bond of the sewer contractors was approved. City Hall Improvements. The committee on buildings made report on repairs necessary in City Hall. The report was accepted and electric light wires ordered concealed. Sealed bids were received for paint ing and papering City Hall and on motion the committee was authorised to make contract with T. A. Wilson. For Flood Belief. On motion the mayor was author ized to appoint a committee of three to meet with the Township trustees and the county commissioners tc secure cooperation In the matter ol an outlet for flood water east of town, Tha mavor appointed as such com- mittM Councllmen HeeB, Glelssner and Plelser and asked permission to add Councllmen Robson and cowan at reouest of the council the mayor agreed to act with the committee necessary. . ' The Eighth street sewer petition was laid on the table. Bids for city printing were ordered secured. Citizens Bank Only Bidder. On motion the Citizens Bank was designated as city depositary it agree ing to pay 2 per cent on daily bal- onr-o tn ha credited monthly. The other banks made no bids. Parker Must Clear Street. . The street commissioner was or dered to clear South Olive street near the Parker factory. The matter of drainage on Second street between Walnut and Mulberry was referred to the street, and alley committee. On motion the sanitary committee was Instructed to Investigate the mat ter of City Physician and report to the council. Dr. Wltmer was appoint ed but refuses to serve. A fire escape ordinace was referred to the ordinance committee. Marslurishlp Hung Up. The reslarnationof Geo. St. Peter as marshal was presented and on mo tion was accented. The mayor then submitted the appointment of C. W. Huffman a marshal. A resolution was introduced requesting the mayor to appoint the street commissioner and one of the raid firemen as assist ant marshals, and on motion the res olution was adopted. The mayor took the matter under advisement Hoff man's appointment was not confirm ed.
