The story, concerns a man and woman happily married and B'urrounded by all the luxuries that money is able to buy. Distrust comes Into the household and is first noticed by Father Kelly as he comes Into the play. Luxury and happi ness fades in a night and sorrow m!ina. The priest's calm courage and faith saves them, drives away suspicion, doubt and mistrust and brings lack the rays : of hope and love again. The play is built around th character of the priest and makes room for great Interpreta tion. Harrison ,Ter,ry ' who carried the part wa,s altogether worthy of it and his supporting cast was good. Such a line of shows Is appreciated by the theatregoers In Abilene. On our return trip we stopped at San Francisco and while there visit ed many places of interest, among them Golden Gate park, -the famous cliff house and Mare Island navy yards. We like California but the Sunflower state is the best. HANDLING FRUIT FOR STORAGE. THEY LIKE CALIFORNIA BUT KANSAS THE BEST. Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Freeman write to the Reflector from Sacramento, Calif, as follows: The Reflector is like a letter from home, and if we don't receive It we are very much" disappointed. We just returned from our vacation - trip to Los An geles and Catalina Islands. While there we attended the old soldiers' reunion and met many Dickinson county people, among them was Chas. R. Munson formerly of Abilene, now of Santa Anna, Cal. We also met C. C. Towner and Ellas Martin While traveling through San Joa quin valley we saw some very nice 1; l. The rd''"" crors are navy U-sns t.-z&r aTfklfa end fruit. It does not pay to store inferior grades of fresh fruit for marketing, no matter how short the fruit crop may be in your section. Such fruit uoes not keep well, and In the next place it is a blunder, to try to get the public to pay a good price for poor fruit. , V Grade the fruit according to size, color and quality, and pack so that the contents of packages are the same from, top to bottom. Mark and sell according to, grade. And if the conditions seem , favorable store only the best grades. , It goes without saying that fruit to rank as first class must be free from blemishes due to fungi and Insects, according to a Farm and Home contributor. It must be of fair size and color for the variety, uni form, and so carefully packed and handled that it shall be free from even slight bruises. If only such fruit Is stored the risk of keeping and of realizing a satisfactory Price under changing market conditions Is very much less than otherwise. Tight packages lor cold storage , apples head cushions at top and bottom of barrels are desirable. Paper wrap pers are of , valu In packing the fancy grades. Now comes the point which, pos sibly more than any other. Is a com mon source of loss. The mistake consists In barreling or boxing up apples and letting them He In the orchard 'or In buildings for several days before they are sent to stor age. Sometimes the car remaini on the track several days before the iine? la comnleted. In either case several days elapse before the ... i. nt to storage. In one case coming, to my knowledge the fruit was kept out of storage ior sever-, weeks. Fruit so handled Is almost sure to sbring to the extent of 80 or 40 per cent by- January, some times more. " ' . The rule to be Jnvarlably ol lowed In handling apples for storage is to get tbem into storage the same day they are gathered and packed. Tbe sooner the better.
