college was today named a member
of the executive committee of the
Association of American Agricultur
al College and Experimental Stations.

son, who entered the employ 'of Mor
ris & Co. at a salary of 'M a week,
was elected president of tliat com
pany, succeeding the late Edward
Morris. Edward Morris, 20 years
old, son of the late packer, was
chosen vice president.

textures. Some of its work touched

Some of the boys proved themselves
good agricultural engineers.
The drawing boards have arrived
for the Manual Training department
and the students will start mechan
ical drawing in a few days. When
the guards for the band saw arrive
the young mechanics will complete
their stools for use when drawing.
Several Of the boys have completed
the problems and are ready to make
some article of furniture. Two of
the boys, Myron Goodell and No
ble Brewer, are constructing a book
case to be used in the public li
brary.
Mayor Nichols addressed the stu
dent body in chapel Friday morning
on the "Commission Form of Gov
ernment," the present system em
ployed in our city.
The third meeting of the high
school German club was held at 3
o'clock Thursday afternoon. After
a few opening songs and a review of
the minutes by the secretary, the
second part of the fam us German
novel, "Ekkehard," was given in
English by Elizabeth Wyandt. A
German story which was Illustrated
with post cards was then told by
Freda Marsh. Another short story
by Meaze Sauer concluded the' ora
torical exercises for the day. After
this the members Indulged in Ger
man games and songs and closed
their meeting by singing "Die Wacht
Am Rheln."

Iola, Nov. 15. Mrs. Anna Ray,
who, on October 24, 1913, shot and
fatally wounded her husband, Geo.
Ray, during a quarrel at the Ray
farm, adjoining the city of Iola, was
bound over for trial in the district
court on the charge of murder in' the
first degree by Justice G. M. Nelson.
An effort on the part of the defense
to have the defendant admitted to
bail failed.
